Hiya, just wondered if anyone knows how to make vodka jellies?? We had this great idea to have them at our engagement party...then realised niether us know how to make them!!!:smack: Helllllp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I usually follow the recipe on the jelly carton, usually 1/2 of total of boiling water and the rest of cold water, i subtitute the cold water for vodka. I don't recomend the use of ice cubes, if the jelly mix gets frozen it does not solidify as well, i recomend you use boiling water and then the room temperature vodka, let it cool of then place on fridge. You can do a large bowl then serve or serve in plastic shot cups.

DONT DO IT......... i had strawberry vodka jellies saturday with my mate before we went out.........came home very very drunk and minus a shoe ...pmsl (but cant remeber who nicked my shoe) so no more of those wicked jellies for moi........ever

vodka jelly is my thing!!! we have a lot of parties and i'm told i have to make them....even when we go to parties its requested that i provide vodka jelly!!

a great idea for vodka jelly is making them up in bun trays, you can make 12 per tray and its easy to scoop them out and put them on serving plates.

mostly follow the instructions on the carton but replace some of the water with vodka...the aount of vodka depends on how strong you want them!

i break up the jelly cubes into a measuring jug and pour in about half a pint of boiling water, keep stirring until they are completely disolved. add some more water and then vodka.

put the trays into the fridge over night to set...and then voila!!!!!

(putting them in ice cube trays can be a little hit and miss as you'll struggle to get them out in one piece)

asda do the bun trays/yorkshire pudding trays for about £1 each

good luck xx

Thanks for your help everyone....our party is in a pub in town so we have to make the jellies and then take them in before the party they have fridge space so am thinking plastic shot glasses would be the best....anyone know where I can get them from?? (heavens we are rather hopeless arent we!!)

pmsl.....now thats my kinda night!!!

if your gonna do them in shot glasses you'll need spoons or something to scoop them out...when you pour the liquid jelly into the shot glass or whatever its sets and sticks to the sides so its not like the people who have them can knock them back like when drinking a shot of drink....you could try scoring the edge of the shot glasses with a cocktail stick to loosen the jelly

have you checked out ebay for plastic shot glasses

ooh i love vodka jellies

but beware they can be lethal

i find that as the jellie is so sweet you 4get about the alcohol in them, but when you start to stagger and fall about the place you soon know why

never thought of ebay!!!!!!!!!! wicked, cheers everyone!!!

definitely check out the last link i gave...they would be perfect!

they are wicked but we do need 50...

Just a tip....
Instead of using boiling water (takes far too long to set)
Put the jelly in the bowl, add about 3 teaspoons of water and microwave for 60 secs.
Then add the rest of the cold water (or vodka)

OMG...That made me laugh so hard!!!   I hope you were riding around minus one shoe...Did you ever find the other one??

Tequila jellies made with lime jelly are really nice, if a bit lethal. Like wobbly mini-Margerhitas!

I use the disposable ice cube bags, just pour the jelly mix in the top, and they all fill up. Then when they are set you just separate the little sections and suck out the contents - very ladylike!!!
