Wax not sticking to strip

Hi all, newbie here do forgive me if this has been talked about already.

I have a hive brow waxing kit, that comes with a mini heater. I have warmed the wax up for around an hour, it's hot when I apply to my skin, but when I put the strips on, the wax doesn't come off.

I have a client next week and I need to know what I'm doing wrong ‍

Hi just a thought, do you use pre wax lotion/gel prior to waxing as the skin needs to be clean? If your wax is hot enough and once you apply the strip you run over it when it’s attached to the skin before pulling it off, the hairs should come out

Are you sure it is a wax designed to be used with paper strips? It might be a hard wax that you just flick off?

If the kit did not come wax strips then it'll be a hard wax. Can you post a photo of what came in the kit?
