Hi all,

my website has gone onto google tonight (yay !!)

If anyone fancies a mooch and wants to give me any feedback as its a work in progress please go to

Helen Masters - Bridal, Wedding Make Up Artist Manchester

Would love to hear if you think how it could be made better.

Did another photo shoot yesterday that was different to anything on there they will go up asap.

Thanks all.

Hi Helen, just had a quick look on your website and although I am not an expert, I think it looks fabulous, professional and informative. Well done! I noticed one teeny error on your services page on the bottom paragraph (make up bar heading) you have put through out instead of throughout. Only mentioned this ad you have put it the correct way a couple lines down. Hope this doesn't come over as picky or rude ;-). Good job though Hun xxx

Hi Helen,

Didn't want to read and run. Pics look lovely, only a couple of pointers for you that might help. On the home page you need another line space between the 1st and 2nd Paras. I'd also like to see your contact details displayed more clearly if I was a potential customer. Have you got a phone number? etc.

Like the simplicity of it (I mean that in the nicest possible way!!) and it's really easy to navigate through.

xx

Thank you very much guys, will sort out both those points.

It still needs a bit of work, not entirely happy with the home page but appreciate your comments.

fingers crossed it generates some bookings xx

Website looks really good, possibly get a couple more testimonials & a quick change:

My name is Helen Masters and I am a Make Up Artist and Hair Stylist based in and around Stockport/Manchester.

Titles should be start with a capital letter ..... but that's just me being picky

I love the hair in gallery 1 :)

Hi Are you ready.

This may be a little long winded so sorry.

I will explain about your keywords first, your best keywords/phrase is "Bridal Make up Manchester" it gets approx 1000 local searches a mth, where "Bridal Make Up Cheshire" gets about 300 searches and "Bridal Make up Stockport" gets under 10 searches a mth.

Concentrate on "Bridal Make Up Manchester" you will appear in googles results if someone writes "Bridal Make up in Cheshire" search engines can geo locate, they also know the connection between Wedding & Bridal, you do not need to put both in the title of your page.

you have
<title>Helen Masters - Bridal, Wedding Make Up Artist Manchester </title>

I would just put

<title>Bridal Make up Artist Manchester - Helen Masters</title>

You need to work on each meta Description for each of your pages and make them relevant to the content, the site looks like you prefer/specialise in Bridal Make up, use this in your meta descriptions, then if you do stand alone make up, do a seperate page and make the meta data specific for that service, make the title for that page specific too ie

<title>Make up Artist Manchester - Helen Masters</title>

Using tables is not the best way to display a two column website it would be much easier to control and work in different browsers using CSS.

In your logo you have this

<td colspan="2"><div align="center"><img src="logo.png" alt="Helen Masters Logo Image" /></div></td>

see the "alt" change this and put keywords in here, ie "Helen Masters Logo - Make up Artist in Manchester"

Staying on the subject of make up artist and Bridal Makeup the amount of searches each mth are 1000 and 1600 for make up artist manchester, close enough in my book to test your pages, and this is why it is better to have two seperate pages for each additional service.
Search engines work with on page seo, you can play with the two seperate pages to see where you rank, make the pages a little different more keywords in one than the other, a better title, better use of h tags in one so if one out ranks the other then you know which layout, structure, headings etc etc work best.
I can give you more info on this if you need it.

Going back to h tags you have none...get some in your site.

I would also get rid of the first paragraph, no disrespect to you if people want to know about you then they would click on the "about" page, tell me what you do, how well you do it and how beautiful you are going to make me look on my big day...draw me in, make me read further, a lot of people make the same mistake of talking about themselves, I know your name is Helen Masters by your logo and I know your a Make up artist and a Bridal make up artist in Manchester because I have just done a search for it.

Hope this helps.

Wow - fantastic feedback, thanks for taking the time to respond in such detail, I really appreciate it. Will get onto those excellent points asap.

No problems, if you want more info about how to test the two seperate pages then I will give you some more pointers, it will help you rank and climb the google ladder. Each industry is different and somethings will work some will fail, its how to find out which will work and which will fail that is the hardest to find out.

Could I just ask which software you are using to create your site and are you doing it yourself?
