Do you have to use Wella Instamatic colors with the 1.9% emulsion? These are semis right? Why aren't they direct dyes like all other semi permanent dyes?

Instamatic is a demi-permanent, sometimes called a long-lasting semi-permanent.

True semis use a totally diffenent type of dyes, anything mixed with a developer/ peroxide is a a type of oxidation dye. Low pH and developer (below 10 vol) = demi? Higher pH and developer (20,30,40vol = permanent).
