I have been browsing a few profiles and I keep coming up with the same jargon "&amp", can someone tell me what this means please

I think it's an old smile icon which didn't transfere properly in the site move - rather than show the smile, it shows what it is in 'typing' form - if that makes any sense!!!

Close babe... and damn fine answer... but in reality... any & signs that were in the old signatures didnt transfer correctly. & is the HTML code for the & sign.
If you see an old & thing in someones signature... they jsut need to replace it with &
