Hi everyone I have a bit of a dilemma...I am on my second year at college doing hairdressing but getting disheartened as we dont get enough practical so was considering doing my L 2&3 in a salon(have a trial next week). I love hairdressing but feel since doing nails I love them just as much  and possibly more!
I have my tantrick spraytan equipment and will hopefully complete my CND L&P foundation in 3 weeks time. I am producing good nails, not fantastic but that should come with time, my CND educator said they are 'salon standard' so could probably do them at a reduced rate until I improve.
My dilemma is if I continue with my hairdressing it will be at least another 18 months before I can call myself qualified and be competent to go on my own meaning everything else will take a back burner. I spoke to a salon today who may be interested taking me on a percentage basis 60/40 to me doing nails and tans. I have done so much work lately with my business enterprise people(like business link) and it would have to go on hold if I do the rest of my hairdressing. Would it be worth it renting the space-the salon is in a high street?
I really am so confused and just dont know what to do....what would you do?? I know you dont have all the answers but please give me some advice.:hug:

60/40 is a good percentage and it would help to improve you timing, and confidence i say go for it!

Well to my way of thinking hun, if you are asking the question, you already know the answer. I think you want to go for it and your looking for confirmation.
If your not happy doing hairdressing, and its a long time yet to go, so a long time to be unhappy. And from reading some of your past post's you know what you want and your ready to start
So I would back you and say go for it...:hug:x

Thanks for replying hun, salon is just off the high street-a hairdressers! Think Im just worrying about wasting the year of college Ive done up to now....wonder if I could see if I could do both, she might put me through my level 2 while Im there lol! Whats an average number of nails clients in a week do you think and is there usually a contract involved when you have a percentage that ties you in for so long? Suzie 49 you know me well hun and I think your probably right its just that I still love hairdressing and I think its the fact Ive wanted to do that for so long its hard to break away from your original plans :(

I'd say go for it too. Just make sure you are happy with the contract. I would try to get 70/30 or more for the first three months or so till you build up a client base. Also I would have a clause making sure threre is a trial period of three months so that if neither party is happy you have a way out. Make sure it clearly states exactly what you have to pay for, eg advertising. When doing your sums ensure you allow for tax, insurance, superannuation and your expenses.
If you cover every angle there are usually no problems arising later.
Once that is out of the way just 'get in there and get it done'
good luck

Thanks everyone for your advice, I really appreciate it and Ill let you know how I get on xxxx
