ok, I am doing a friends nails on Friday and I expect she will want what she usually has, which is white tips with opal shimmer on top of the tips only (am using gel). Normally I do my lock in layer, then use POW, then I dab the shimmer on in tiny amounts of Finish Clear gel (this is NSI stuff), cure that, then build the apex over the top and finish as usual. However this time I want to use a new sculptor gel which I've just ordered from Light Elegance. It's a fab gel but obviously being a sculptor one and not a paint on gel it's thicker. So my question is - at what stage should I apply the opal shimmer? If I do it at the same point as normal then when I come to file the nail into shape I shall more than likely end up filing off the shimmer, as quite often when I use sculpting gels I accidentally apply them a little too thick. So I thought maybe I could put the white gel on, then build up the apex over the top with my builder gel, file into shape and then dap the shimmer on before finally finishing with glaze and go. But would that make the nail tip feel slightly raised and bulky if the shimmer was applied at the end and was stuck on with Finish Clear?

Thanks for your help.

When I apply a shimmer I normally use it instead of a topcoat.
I do add it to my coloured Gel to just to add a bit of a sparkle:hug:
