Hi,
I was trained with IBD but I would like to try the Brisa range. Just wondering if my IBD lamp will be suitable to cure the Brisa Gels?

Thank you

To be on the safe side you should use the Brisa lamp with Brisa....it can work the otherway round...you can cure some gels with the Brisa lamp...but not Brisa with another lamp. x

I tried this, and it was definitely a no. Can cause product breakdown, and heatspike. You should only cure Brisa with the Brisa lamp, however i have used the other way round with other gels.

Nope. I tried it when I first tried Brisa.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree here. I know a tech in a salon that uses the Brisa white gel (not POW) and she uses a regular tunnel lamp (4 - 9 watt bulbs). This is a super white gel and she uses it on everyone (way too bright for me though). She does not use any of the other Brisa gels and she doesn't have any problems. She has been doing this for years. I guess you just have to try it.

I cant explain all the science to you but i think you'll find that the white POW is a different type of gel completely to the actual Brisa pink/clear gels....so thats maybe why she finds it ok to use another lamp....

I am still training, and I use the Brisa gel system. Our instructor told us that it is better to use the lamp that goes with the gel, but if we have a different lamp, then we should cure the product 4 min instead of 2min.

some lamps/bulbs are different and some are the same, take em out and have a look, even the diehards may be surprised, i dont do gels, but i do use em in my fish tank:eek: yep, often it's same ****e different smell if ya get my drift

Angie, She doesn't use the POW, she uses a Brisa white from a pot and it cures fine. She has been doing this for years at the salon she works at. I went to chat with her about it one day. She doesn't have any other white in her drawer except this one. When she does a full set she builds the nail (extension) out onto a gold form and uses a clear gel (She uses Flex by Nail Basics, a Canadian gel) and then she removes the form and then she will use the Brisa white (not POW). I've seen the nails she does and they are nice but way too bright for me!

Carl, I think you are absolutely right!!!

if possible why not see if you can get some gel samples and give it a try

i have the brisa lamp as well as the IBD jet 5000. I did try curing brisa under the jet, but unfortunately it doesnt cure well at all..so had to buy the brisa lamp. You can cure IBD under the brisa though..just not the other way around

Here is when opinion gets screwed up with science. Wattage has nothing to do with UV output and it is the UV output that is imperative for safe and optimum curing. Though you may think that the gel seems fully cured (and in some cases, it may be), you will have no idea if it is or not, you are simply guessing that it is because you can file on it and it seems fine.

It is the exact same as working too wet with a mix ratio. It may seem fine, it will file fine, but it is still too wet and will contribute to service breakdown (at best) and overexposure (and allergic reactions).

If you dig the IBD lamp, you will always get best results using an IBD gel.

HTHs!
