i have been given an assignment to do, and one of the sections asks for the basic chemistry affecting the self life of tinting prducts. i have been looking everywhere to find the answer, but im not having much look. i was wondering if anyone would be able to direct me to the right place to find the answer. thanks

The main issue will be with the shelf life of the hydrogen peroxide - it's unstable and will break down into water and oxygen over time. It should be stored in a cool place away from sunlight.

Hydrogen peroxide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia gives more information, but the chemical reaction in question is:

2H2O2 -> 2H2O + O2

Hope that helps :)

thank you so much for your quick reply you have been a great help

Cool, thanks for that :)

You could also say that the shelf life is longer if kept in a cool place out of sunlight, as heat (and especially sunlight - and in particular the UV light in sunlight) will speed up the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. That's also the main reason that hydrogen peroxide is usually stored in dark glass bottles (to block light from getting in)...
