Can anyone offer me any tips please?

Im trying to put together my first price list ready to go mobile, just not sure where to start with costing it out etc

Dont want to undercut others in the area and end up with no profits, but at the same time dont want to out price myself... if that makes sense?

Also, Ive been trying to come up with a name.

Ive been advised not to use my own personal name in the name (again if that makes sense lol) but also to think of a name that would be okay to carry on using if I ever opened a salon of my own (unlikely lol) so that my clients would still recognise me and the name?

Would appreciate any help/suggestions from all you fabulous people :D

Why is your name Busy Bee?

Maybe Bee Beautiful and you could a theme of yellow, flowers and bees - a fresh, all natural look & feel?

Good luck with it. Let us know what you decide.

Busy Bee is just a name I use for forums or usernames etc, no idea where I got it from lol

I did think of it but not sure.

I wanted to use the name of a salon that I used to work at way back when. It was taken over by another company years ago and the name changed. As far as I can find out, its not being used anywhere in my county, but not sure if I would be allowed to use it or not?
Its not a mega famous name or anything and they have not traded with it for at least 20 years that I know of. Would I be breaking some copyright law or something? (really dont want to get in trouble before I start lol)

I don’t think you would be breaking the law on the old salon name, but I would get legal advice first on this.

For the name, I went with my name and a ''tag'' underneath saying ''Personal Hair Stylist'' it sounded better than ''mobile hairdresser''. So that’s something to think about.

For the prices I charge 20.00 for C/B.W and then for colours you add up price of tint, peroxide, foils and time and you get your prices also charge extra for longer hair :)

For bleach, I charge for the whole tub, so I pay 10.99 for a tub although im only using like 2.00 of it, but that’s how you make the profit. J
Also other specialist services like perming, relaxing, colour correction etc. are all add on’s so you can charge a lot more for these.

That's brilliant advice, thank you :)

My business is called KGB salon as I'm Russian and KGB stands for Krasota ("beauty" in Russian), glamour and beauty. My clients love it! Lol x

I just went with "Hair by" then my maiden name. On my business cards I have the tagline "Professional, Mobile Hairdresser". I told someone I was a freelance hair stylist one time and they said "so does that mean you're a mobile hairdresser?" I figured I may as well call a spade a spade! lol!

I googled a whole bunch of sites in the UK to get a rough price guide and went for about an average. I'll be reviewing my prices soon I think though cos they might be a bit high (for what people are willing to pay) but I'll still be making a profit if I do drop them slightly.
