Hi Geeks. A lady has just popped up on my Facebook, along with a picture, stating "Another beautiful set of Matte Shellac nails". I know that she uses (or last I knew) 100% CND products. Have I missed a trick here?

Dead easy... Apply your base, 2x desired colour coats.. Then apply topcoat, cure, wipe and lighty buff the shine off, wipe with isopropyl alcohol and it should be matte. I like to use two coats of top just to make sure I don't buff into the colour and make scratch marks .. Hope this helps x

What grit file do you use to remove the shine? I'm worried about just putting scratches in the topcoat x

Ideally a 240 buffer NSI do a really good double sided file and buffer. Or a white block with light pressure x

I did these with Shellac then used a Bourjois matt top coat.. 2 mins of a job and no messy application. Perfect 👌

This matte top coat- how does it affect your shellac removal? By that I mean does this top coat require buffing before wrapping? As obviously with shellac we don't need to buff :)

It just removes with the shellac, it's a normal standard nail polish x

Oh I thought it was opi's gel range!

The one I've used is a Bourjois nail polish.

I've purchased the opi matte topcoat. Removes the same as normal, I still buff before wrapping.

This was what I was asking- if you need to buff it. That is what puts me off as removal for a shellac service requires no buffing. :-/

I don't know what the problem would be though as you are buffing the topcoat before removing? You're not touching the natural nail. I thought a shellac removal also required breaking the seal of the topcoat but I don't use it so could be wrong.

Hey, no there's no need to buff shellac to remove it. That's why for me, my clients like it as they don't like any type of filing on the nail. We just wrap and it removes like a dream. 😋
