Hi

I have just started spray tanning using Suntana spray tan solution which I am really happy with, however summer is coming and I really need a solution that will go darker and Suntana do not do a 14 or 16% solution.

I would like some retail products to go with the solutions and Suntana do not do these either.

I am torn between Nouvotan and Siennax for the darker solutions and was hoping to get some advice on which is best, i.e. value for money (amount of solution per tan), colour advice on either, and which retail products are useful and you can actually make some money on as people are reluctant to spend money these days :D but if it makes their tan last they might!

I may buy both the 14 and 16%?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

If your funds are tight have you thought about purchasing one % and utilising booster drops to increase and therefore give you a relatively good rang simply by buying on solution %

Just a thought

You could also try Aviva Labs, they have a gimme brown solution which is amazing! They have an 8%, 10%, & 12%. I have tried many solutions and this was by far the best for that darker summer glow. Hope this helps. They also have a tan extender or sunless tanning gel that rocks! Good luck!

I would go with the booster drops. I use Suntana and if someone wants a darker colour I add the drops. Works a treat.

I've been using Nouvatan since September last year and have always been very happy with the results I get. I currently use Nouvatan 8%, 10%, 12% and 16%. The 12% gives a lovely rich colour and then I just jump to 16% for girls who are dancers or who just want to look very dark. So far my clients have been very happy. You can always do a 50/50 ratio of 12% and 16% to make a 14% if the client wants and 'inbetweeny'!

I also use Sienna X 12% - I really just stock this so I have the brand and clients who are sienna X die hards will still use me but I have had a few clients now who prefer the colour of Nouvatan to SiennaX. Also I am delighted with the Nouvatan service and pricing.

Good luck with whatever you go for!

I have to say that anyone looking for the ultimate tan that causes little or no problems whilst spraying or developing I have to say that Aviva Labs is the one. Incredible stuff, I have been spraying for 10 years and I have tried almost every solution on the planet, however I do have to say that the companies are springing up everywhere no and I know for a fact that a fair few of them all come from the same manufacturer in Florida.

However as we are now in the days of the tenner tan, I do have to say that Solglo is a fair competitor on the darker side. Very impressed it managed to elude me somehow but I am definately switching over for my own personal use.

On another note I would be interested in anyone who can prove to me that a 16% solution provides a deeper tan than a 12%. I have tried a couple and I cant say I was inpressed. I was told by a chemist who manufactures that the skin cannot taint any darker than it does with a 12% as its all relative to the amount of melanin ( tanning pigment ) in the skin. If anyone has one that they say works I would like to try it I am fond of an extreme tan myself, however lets face it though the darker we go the worse it looks when it wears off. Apologies if I am not supposed to mention names I am new to the site so I dont know if this can be said. No doubt I will find out

I just had a look at their website. They mut be new. Can't find a sample of the 16% but they sell their samples for over £7:eek:. Tropical Sun 12% is also quite good as a dark shade.

If you give them a call, I'm sure they will be able to do you a 16% sample.

sunless solutions offers booster drops which i use and there very good .

They had to start charging for samples, as people were taking the mickey (in fact there was a woman on eBay selling a book about how to blag free samples from pretty much every spray tan company in the country) - and you just know that it's going to be unqualified people without training that are going to be blagging most of the free samples and then advertising tans for a fiver, using a fence sprayer from Argos, and completely undercutting the spray tan professionals who have actually bothered to pay for training and insurance!

Nouvatan are lovely though - so I'm sure they'd be happy to help with a sample of 16% if you give them a call... please do remember they are a small business at the end of the day though, and can't afford to send free samples out willy nilly, as like all of us, they have to turn a profit at the end of the day, or else what's the point?

I use Nouvatan. I have all their percentages and can categorically state that the 16% is a much deeper tan than the 12%. I have clients that like a dark tan and they usually have a 14%. They nearly always end up trying the 16% and a few go back to the 14% as they feel the 16% is too dark. I also use an 18% from LA Tan and that's darker than the 16%-only for the brave-lol.
Your chemist friend is talking tosh. Yes you have certain people whose skin can only absorb a certain amount of DHA but this is not the norm.

Angelina is right about your chemist friend - as it's all to do with the way that DHA reacts with proteins in the top layer of the skin - specifically if the proteins contain the amino acid arginine (amongst others)... the DHA reacts with the amino acids via the Maillard Reaction, which has similar chemistry to the reaction that makes bread and biscuits go brown when baked (hence the "biscuity" smell often associated with spray tans)...

Whereas I'm pretty sure that melanin is found deeper in the skin - certainly deeper than the "stratum corneum" where spray tan solution will be most active...

Suntana do the dha drops . and you can adds them in to the tan . the chocolate tan in the suntana is really dark though. it really depends on the skintone also.another brill tan is crazy angel its quite new but the clients love it and they do a really dark one and the have retail products also. the packaging is great:)
