Hi everyone,

Sorry if this is a stupid question but i don't know........to soak off enhancements i have only ever used "tip remover", but i have just bought a bottle of acetone. Do i use this in the same way ie. immerse fingertips in solution? on the bottle it says "take care to protect skin and cuticles"

Might seem silly but i wouldn't want to hurt my mum tomorrow ......

As far as I know, tip remover is mainly acetone based anyway so as long as you apply a good cuticle oil and hand cream afterwards your mum will still have her fingers and skin intact!!

I have some soak off thingies... you fill them with acetone or whatever and after a while it's done...

otherwise, i use an expert touch wipe, full of acetone, apply it on the nail, and roll a foil of aluminium around the fingernail.

i would use it in the same way.
some techs soak cotton wool in it and then wrap it round each nail with tin foil so its just down to personal choice.
some people also add some cuticle oil to the acetone to try and help the skin.
just make sure to buff over the procuct first as this makes it easier for the acetone to penetrate through.i use a soak off bowl so that i can warm the acetone up with warm water but you can do this by using a bigger bowl with warm water then put a smaller bowl in it with the acetone in if you dont do this already.it makes it quicker.xx

thanks everyone....x

Just wanted to say, that there's a reason manufacturers supply product remover.....yes its Acetone based, but does have conditioners etc in it that help protect the nail.

I have previously resorted to Acetone when I've run out, and now make sure I never do! Its much more drying on the nails, and to be honest I think purchasing it is a false economy. What it saves you in pennies, it loses you in clients and condition of the natural nail.

^I totally agree with you still!

and in my very humble opinion, it is still never good to remove nails, in a way or another, buff it off if you need as acetone still remains a product that has to be used carefully. plus I don't find it very professionnal.

but on myself I tend to care a bit less ;)
