Hey all,

I am a beauty therapist who has sworn by acrylic since that was what I specialised in during my apprenticeship. I am currently looking into the CND Brisa Lite Sculpting Gel as I use the CND acrylic powders and retention liquid which I have found to be a great product.

I have found a few threads but I haven't been able to get the answers I was looking for.

I don't want to go out buy the product, and do the course if in the end it's not really what I'm after.

I'm going to use my nails as an example to discuss my questions. I have brittle, dry and flaking (from the tips) nails. I have found that Brisa Lite Sculpting gel does not require buffing of the natural nail. I would have to buff my natural nail as to remove the flaking nails to prevent lift and other conplications. Would this then affect how the Scultping gel works? Would ir adhere as well when applied on a buffed surface?

Also I would love to experiment with the colour additives but I'm not sure if you are able to apply the additives to the sculpting gel and then how would you finish them off? Is it possible to use the lite top coat or would you have to use a normal top coat as you shouldn't "sandwich" products?

Sorry this is so long but any help would be highly appreciated!! I can't find any information anywhere without having to do a course. :|

If I was using BL Sculpting gel on nails like yours, I would try it without buffing first ... Even to remove flaking (unless it was very bad and then, I still wouldn't buff, I would shorten the nails to get rid of the dry flakey area).

If you buff, inevitably the nail will become thinner and more flexible in that area. The gel will adhere to a buffed nail, but thin, flexible nails can cause problems under any type of nail overlay.

You can either add the additives to the gel (no more than 30% additive in the gel) or you can apply a dusting on top of the inhibition layer and then finish always with you BL Top coat.

Finally I would advise you to take a class ... Well worth it believe me.

Aww wow thankyou so much! My only concern is sometimes my flaking continues down past th free edge. I'll have to just trial and error to see what works :) Yes I am very interested in doing a class. I live rather remotely so it's a matter of timing and making a trip out of it. I really appreciate your feedback, thankyou for taking the time!
