The owner of an upmarket beauty salon locally (they don't do nails) has left me a message saying she has "heard of me" lol, through mutual clients, and can I call her tomorrow for a chat.

The mutual clients we have are well behaved and look after their nails well and so they are always immaculate, so at the risk of being a bit presumptious :smack: here, I'm thinking she may want to set up some sort of referral basis.

Just so that I prepared in case of that, what can I expect, cos I've never done that before. Would it be normal for it to be a one-off "commission" payment for each introduction, or is it usual to pay a proportion of your takings every time you see the said referred client?

Can anyone shed any light on these situations, I don't want to seem like a wally. Thanks xxxx:hug:

i own a beauty salon and i know alot of owners of hairdressing salons, and in all my experience we have all, always friendly recommended clients to each other for free!!!
dunno if id want to pay her you could always make it work both ways, so that you are doing her a favour to! by recommending back to her!

maybe offer a small discount to her clients when they spend over a certain amount in her store, there for giving her the oppertunitie to bump up her sales......or something along those lines

if you want to generate more bussiness there are lots of salons that would do this for you, for free, you could approach them 1st...xxx

Totally agree.... if you are busy enough, you don't need to do this and your mutual clients are referring free of charge anyways.

Speak to her and see what she has on offer....come back and let us know!

Thank you for your advice, referring back to her seems like a good idea. Then we both gain, and neither has to take less money. I'll have a chat later and let you know how I get on. I don't want to upset her as one of my best clients is on quite friendly terms with her . . . but what with the credit crunch situation which we have at the moment, it would be silly to give money away if you don't have to lol!

This site is invaluable when you work alone . . . . thanks so much.:hug:

yeah, usually it's free to refer another "complementary" treatment.

but you can decide, both, to make a special offer, ie 5% off on the nail set if they go to her for what she does... or the opposite.
