hi there.

im after some advise if anyone can help me? i have had enough of my current part time job and have put in for redundancy! i am thinking of using this money to put towards a course in spray tanning. the course i am looking at is with capital 'sunless solutions'

my concern is going from a regular wage to mobile and having no idea of how much money u could earn! is this a profitable business and in demand mobile and is it still popular in the winter months!

would love to hear from someone with any advice please.

Hiya,

I cant tell you anything about sunless solutions because I dont have any experience of them, I'm sure someone else will be able to offer an opinion on the course and solutions though. The one's that I would highly recommed are with Tantrick (wow factor) and Sienna X

I work as a mobile spray tanner in Essex so not far from you. I found it slow to build up my business and I have been doing it for over 4 years now and I am busy most of the time BUT.... I still work part time in an office mornings..

I can never tell how busy I am going to be, some weeks the diary looks bare and by the end of the week i'm rushed off my feet, other weeks i'm jam packed and then a few cancel etc, I dont know if I'd want to rely on it as my sole income to pay the bills even at this stage (although I could most weeks) you can never tell, same as with any self employed job I suppose!

Most of my clients want their tans in the evenings or late afternoon anyway so it doesnt interfere with my tanning if I work mornings. I do have one day off from the office which is a Thursday, generally my busy tanning day, so if anyone did specifically want a tan in the morning I can accomodate them, also can spray on a Saturday if needed but dont do this too often as they normally have it done before this to get the Friday and Saturday out of it lol.

I am busy in the winter months and especially November and December! although January and February were busy for me this year too :green: Summer is busy too usually, but it didnt happen overnight! I would suggest that you stay on at your part time job or get something else to keep you going while you build up your tanning business

Jaffacake has given you some really good advise there. I'm pretty sure tonilee on here is a trainer for sunless solutions. Pm her sweetie xxx

go for it hun, i have three friends who do it and myself and we all think its the best thing we did and they wondered why they didnt listen to me and do it earlier. Its a business that you can fit around yourself and be your own boss. Advertise is the way forward to build your clients up. Get some leaflets printed and pop them through every post box you see :).
If you havent got a start up pack i got myne from La tanning half price. Great deal and half the price of most i have seen on the web.

many thanks for your replies its given me and insight of what i can expect if i go for this! i am fortunate enough at the mo my partner takes care of bills and the mortgage but i would still like to achieve an income for myself! and going from a regular paid job all my life to being uncertain of what i would be making is something i will need to think about.

im thinking do i just take the plunge u only live once. i hate my current job and looking for something i could do for myself! if i get my voluntary redundancy then i could use some of the money to set myself up!

oh what to do???????????

thanks for reply.
which company did u use for training and would u be able to give a rough idea how much u paid.
as with sunless the course, kit then an option to buy the hvlp and tent it would nearly b £600. so might have to do some research!!

Hi if I where you and hubby can cope paying the bills for a while I would go for it, I think £600 sounds alot, Im sure you could knock a couple of hundred off that. Try Sienna or Tantrick im sure there not that much. They have some good start up deals.
You could then do another course in say waxing, which is an all year round earner, you can get some money back and add a couple more courses, that way you can make sure you earn steadily all year round, but Spray tanning is fantastic.
Get a website, I got mine for £3 a month from vista print, get yourself on all the free advertising sites, ie, yell.com. It takes time but you will get there. Good luck.
