Hello All,

Just wondering how many of you geeks offer airbrush designs?

If you do, then are you requested to provide basic or very intricate designs, and what is an average amount to charge for the service (I know this would depend on the design, amount of colours used in design, etc.)

I am thinking of doing an airbrush course, as I would like to be able to offer the service, but don't want to waste my time and money if there is not really a great demand for it.

Your comments would be appreciated.

I have been working for myself now for 5 years and have had my airbrush for 5 years, probably used it on clients a dozen times, no more.
So for me it wasn't worth it, even though I advertised it to death. That is not to say that it won't be successful for you. It will be interesting to see others responses. I know that Jackie Mc who is an airbrush genius used to airbrush all the time. Not seen her on the boards for a while so not sure whether she still does.

I'll be watching this thread with interest as I'm having the same thoughts myself . . . the cost of buying equipment and training is considerable isn;t it and it seems it might take quite some time to recoup even that. But then not that many people (in my area anyway) offer airbrushing. . . you have to go to the big towns for it. I need to work out whether people don't offer it because people don't want it. . . or whether theres a gap in the market

Does anyone know how mch you charge for, say, a French or fancy french design, on top of the normal infill price? Ta xx

I get the feeling that airbrushing is not as popular as it used to be, and that freehand nailart and 3d nailart has taken over in recent years. JMHO.

I feel that airbrushing as never been has popular as freehand and 3d work I would say save your money for something more useful :)

Hmm, some girls I know airbrush all sorts - even the whites on a french manicure..

I often have my own nails airbrushed, especially if I am having french because it stays on better than white nail varnish which often chips and I just really prefer the look of it.

My nail tech uses it quite a bit, she keeps her boards in the indow so people can see and be tempted by them. I think it depends on your area and what you can offer.

I pay an extra £5 to have my tips whitened with airbrush and my tech charges based on how many colours she uses rather than the difficulty of the design.

I made allot of money out of airbrushing in my salon ... but not through doing intricate designs. I used the airbrush for ALL colour application and for French manicures and charged an extra 5.00 for every application.

If you only use an airbrush for design work it will take you years to recoup your money. To make money using it you must commit to it .. have it permanently set up and ready to go and use it for all your colour.

Like the above post, if a client wanted an intricate design or even a simple colour fade, I would charge by the colour. Colour fades were extremely popular (and quick to do) and a tenner a time or more !!
