Good morning all. I have a question regarding options, the soak off gel. I normally use l + p, but had a lady that wanted a nno with gel, in the past I have used akzentz file off, trilite clear, and the white for the french look, which have stayed on the nail for weeks. However, this time I used the options, and less than a week later she is getting cracks and chipping at the free edge, there is no lifting at all, just pieces of gel missing. I am clearly missing something out here, I make sure the white is nice and thin, and all cured for the correct time. I don't think the lady is too heavy handed to create cracks like this, as I said before, she stands up well with the buff off.

All advice welcomed, cannot afford to loose a clent in this day and age!

Which white are you using? you may be better off with options brite white - as its flexible .

It doesn't chip - but if its not thick enough it may have been too bendy and it has just peeled away in chips.

Hi, just checked, it is the brite white I'm using.

Now I'm stumped! It's definately not peeling off, but cracking, then pieces breaking away.

Thank you Pazzy.

So the white you are using is not part of the options range? If it's not it will definitely crack as it is a buff off gel and cannot bend when the more flexible options gel does. If you use an options gel you won't have any cracking.

Hello Alex, yep, it's one of the soak off's, specifically wanted a soak off, and ordered through Karen at NPB......I know she would'nt sell me anything that wouldn't work together.

All I can think is the client has had a little pick at them.

Have your tried the new opti- bond under your overlays? Its much better than the base and gloss. I used it the other day - and capped the free edge and so far, no free edge lifting/chipping.

I will give it a go with a french sometime.

My only other reason why this may have happened is because the buff off is so rigid - the client may have struggled to get used to the flexibility of the options and may have felt it bending here and there - it may have led her to unintentionally pick at the nail. You could try again - but if all else fails - keep this particular client on the buff off - any new clients will be fine with options soak off.
