any canadian beauty geeks out there?

hi all

im after some general info. my partner and i are hoping to immigrate to canada, British Columbia. he is the main applicant but i would also like to carry on as a therapist when i am there. i have tried the imiigration questionanire but it doesnt seem to recognise beauty therapy as a skilled trade.

any info or advice from anyone would be GREATLY APPRECIATIATED. THANK YOU

I hope to be behind you in a couple of years. Off in a month to look at some properties.........very exciting. But, like you, I would love to carry on with Beauty/holistic work of some sort. I shall keep an eye on your thread. Good luck with the move.

its all a bit up in the air at the minute but fingers crossed, where abouts are you looking at/ we are looking into the british columbia side of things xx

hi there every province has its own regulations ... its a pain trying to get all the info but if you google BC licensing for esteticians (sp ? ) you should find something out ...
also i do know for bc you also will have to do yer driving test again , lol
in ontario the only thing licensed is hairdressing .. nails and beauty are not ... but a lot of places differ ,the whoile emigrating thing is a minefield and its a lot of hard work but you wont regret it

can i ask if you have been out there long? i know its a nightmare to get through immigration that is why im asking for as much info as possible. is dermalogica big out there?? i was thinking i could maybe contact there regional head quarters as i have all my certificates with them??

hi yeh dermalogica does ok out here as far as i am aware i know of a few salons that use it , i have been here a year so finally getting my bearings on it all , lol ... even though i had been over here a lot before we moved i thought i knew what the nail and beauty game was like .. until i moved !! :lol: at first it really overwhelmed me but am getitng used to it now , lol x
