Hiya,
Basically what the title says really? if you have ordered did you have to pay any import charges or taxes etc?
Found some fab nail stuff but dont want to be stung with massive charge?
Im new here and have been in beauty for 16 years and in such a bitchy industry its great to be able to get info from one another so thanks in advance:)

ok what site did you find fad stuff on i will go and do a check out
and see if you get charge more than me ok so
let me no ok thanks

Hi....sorry cant help you on the nail stuff as not my feild..but bringing in product from all over the world is.

For small amounts of goods bringing them in can be a bit of hassel and quiet frankly you really don't save enough money to make it worth while.

The other point to bear in mind is that by bringing in the stuff directly yourselves from offshore you could well be stepping on the toes of the Uk distributor which may just get their backs up???

Good luck eitherway:hug:

Hiya,

I dont know if it's different for Ireland, but I always order my gels, lamps, brushes etc. on line from a site in the U.S., compared to the prices here it's almost half price, the site I get them from also dont charge delivery on order over $99!
I'v never had any problems with them, delivery doesnt take too long and iv never had to pay taxes.

PM me if you want the name of the site x

(It's is a reputable site by the way, not ebay)

Thanks everybody,
It was 2 sites i had been on PRONAIL ESSENTIALS(Australia) and the other was TRANSDESIGN INC (America)
Sorry not copy and pasted but dont know how to do it:o
It was for Orly polishes and airbrushed nail tips.
i could get them sent to my freind in america and get her to post them over:idea:
Any way your comments and advice are great to hear
Thanks

hi, i ordered from the states, nail brushes & nail art and when i put the order through I kindly asked if they could mark the parcel as a gift. A friend advised me too do this which saves you import taxes, they where more than happy to do that for me , so it may be worth asking.

Ooh Suzy that a thought! Where did you order from?
Thanks.

This is actually against the law.

If we are running businesses then we should act like we are running businesses and not try and cut corners wherever we can.

We have British distributors and if we dont support them then they will not survive, like us.

OK, yes we may be able to buy the odd nail tip or airbrush paint or whatever and save a few pennies but we will have to wait for it. And then what happens if it goes wrong.

Please support your local suppliers rather than cutting costs and potentially breaking the law.

fair enough, good point, but unfortunately, Im just starting out and the brush that was reccommended was half price from the states. But yes I do agree that we should buy British, but what a difference in price.

That is because the UK distributors have imported things into the UK by the proper channels and paid the appropriate duties. Not fair but life I am afraid. That is the price we pay for having these companies on our doorstep.

Hi i bring in all stock from america if it has a value of over £36 you will be paying vat and a set fee of £7 so when you are looking at cost always add vat and the fee quite oftern on smaller packets you get away without being charged but if you expect the charge its a bonus if you don't get one, As a business i have to pay alot of fee's to buy in from america and sometimes if you only want one item it would be slightly cheaper to buy it in america but then you have a two week wait instead of two days so its up to what you want really
adell

I think some of you should ask their distributor what they pay for and indeed realise that if there are distrib in an area it's not for bullcrap. we settle events, hire ppl, respect laws, inform our techs on regulation, news, etc etc etc.

buuuut on the other hand, we cannot only blame the ones who wanna pay less... the manufacturers also have to check to whom they sell their products in the first place, and warn them that they also have to respect the distributors in place and restrict their orders in provided areas.

but sadly, a few brands don't care and yes it's threatening the distributors. I know of a few who almost went bankrupt because of that.

I agree alot of my stock comes in from america but is specially ordered through the uk distributer that way it gives us the best of both worlds,
as cuccio only stock a small range of cina items in this country alot of what i sell can not be brought in this country so i really have no choice
and if i can buy in the uk at good prices i do.
i have been fully checked by distributers and only buy from main ones but not all are in the uk.
