Is anyone an avon rep?

I was thinking of doing this as I thought it might help me promote my business too - by posting leaflets along the way when I am delivering avon catalogue - does anyone no what it involves?

I am waiting for some1 to call me back about it - just wondered if any1 here had any info?? x

I was an avon rep after I had my little boy. I have to say, if you have the time for it you can make pretty good money for a couple hours work. At xmas time I used to make £150 every 3 weeks! You buy your own books and bags. If you sell over x amount you make 25% commish(I think). You can have a territory or do 'friends and family'. I had a territory and after a while you get to know who your customers are and only do them, maybe doing the whole area once every 4 or 5 months(like coming up to xmas). Only downside for me really was permanently having a box of avon waiting for delivery in the living room.

To be honest I wouldnt bother. I tried Avon and to make any money out of it you have to have a lot of time to devote to it: time which you could devote to doing nails and make far more money that way!

Also, its worth bearing in mind that Avon sell nail products, and if you retail yourself you dont want to do yourself out of sales by distributing Avon nail products to your clients.

I personally wouldn't reccommend it or any of the others (virgin vie, mary kay etc) the reason being as a beauty therapist why would you want to reccommend OTC products when you know they are no-where near as effective as professional skincare products which are prescribed by the therapist.

I think it would be a conflict of interests tbh

I do avon as it gets me out of the house, ive also met some lovely people in doing so and they are always happy to see me and my grandson and have a natter.
I have 3 patches to cover if i so wish but i just stick to family and friend, i dont make huge amounts but then again i dont put in huge hours...prob around 1hr every 3 weeks (obviously more if you was doing a round)

For me its not a case of taking hours away from my nails & beauty as i dont do it any more really (just friends & family, as & when) and what i lost in wages when i gave up work to look after my grandson full time made a huge dent in our income so by doing avon it gives me a little pocket money for little treats.

I think ultimately this is the biggest negative for someone within our industry who is also an avon rep imo hth's
