i had a client booked in today for a back massage but during the consultation i realised she was on medication for diabetes and an irregular heartbeat and had taken the medication only an hour or so ago.
To be sure i asked if i could contact her GP to make sure it would be ok, she assured me she had massage elsewhere but i still felt like i wanted to check. the client refused to let me contact her doctor and walked out offended.
i didnt mean in any way to offend her but i really felt in this instance i should check because of her heart irregularity.
should i have just taken her word for it and done the massage? is it ok to do massage without checking from doctor first if they have this heart condition? or any heart condition for that matter?
Thank you for any response

I think you did totally the right thing!! Your customer should have been impressed, that you where so concerned for her. X

I ALWAYS make sure i have a note from their GP for any sort of contra indication at all. The way I see it, if anything goes wrong it comes back on me and not them. You were 100% right to do as you did.

Thankyou guys much appreciated xxx
