Hi Guys

A lady came into the salon to day where i work and did a demo for nail extenstions using backscratches. It is a very different acrylic method which she claims using this you can do a full set in an hour or an hour and 10 mins. Has anyone used backscratches acrylic before and if so what do you think? This lady is saying its better than creative (i use this) and she used to use creative for years and now that she tried this backscratches acrylic a year ago would not use any thing else. The salon owner that i work in does not know any thing about nails but she thinks what this lady has said is fantastic and is thinking of scrapping all of creative to move over to backsctatches, so we can do a set of nails in an hour. This lady said we should use white tips instead of using white powder which i like to use.
I know its a long thread! Feel a bit deflated, just wanted your thoughts on this!
Thank u!

I would have asked her what makes it better than other brands in her opinion and ask her to back it up with facts and proof.
I personally don't think that it would be better than what you're currently using and think that she more than likely has a beef with your current company rather than having a kickazz new product.

If it was such a fantastic product and has been available for over a year then surely it would be a buzz subject on this site, I read a heck of a lot of threads and can't say the name stands out to me in any way other than for fibreglass.

How did her method differ?

What makes it so special?

Dear Ann

Thank you for this post. I found it quite amusing in a sense as BS have spent years dissing liquid and powder over fibreglass. It is always the same when someone wants you to buy something different... they always say 'it's better than Creative (CND)', but they don't say why.

Anyone using liquid and powder can do a full set in an hour with white tips and a one colour overlay... with PopIts you can do it even quicker if that is what the salon owner is most interetsed in.

If the salon owner knows nada about nails then it is up to you and your convictions on what you think is best! If you want to call Sweet Squared with questions than please do... we would be very happy to help and answer any questions.

We are not here to diss other products however we can explain with conviction why CND is different (I quite sure you know anyway as you say you use CND in the first place).

I hope this helps somewhat but we're here for you should need any more questions answering!

Thank you for your replys!!

She said she found Backscratches stronger than creative!

Backscratches uses a resin that is painted on, you then dip into the pink acrylic powder. Activator is also used and you build up the nail in this way. I must admit i dont feel excited about this method at all! I like working with creative and have done for some time so i am dissapointed with the salon owners reaction. :irked:

That sounds like BackScratchers Extreme to me, it's a tip and dip system and in no way is it as strong as L+P.

A hair salon at the bottom of the road near me has just started offering these for £20 per set!! When I decided to go into mobile there was no one in this immediate area offering the service. Gutted

Gilly don't be gutted - just be BETTER.... no one ever need worry about competition when they know they are good at what they do... no matter who charges what.

I remember years ago teks that had worked with Gigi for years in her salon, leaving and setting up their own business. Sure they took clients with them but was Gigi worried? No. Why? becuase she knew she was one of the best and there is always enough clients to go around!!!

ann, it does sound like backscratchers extreme, as ValencianNails says. i've tried it and it's no way as strong as the backscratchers silk (which is all i use), let alone a liquid and powder system. i found that it tended to shatter, and one ended up with a sort of 'crazy paving' look after 2 weeks. not so good.
i'm not doing any dissing here, see - i just think that forewarned is forearmed.

Thats interesting, thanks for that in sight! what is everyones thoughts using white tips for a set of french rather then using white powder?

I don't care for the look of white tips under a coat of some sort of clear product- it isn't customized to the person hands at ALL, and can tend to be quite flat.

And yes, BS Extreme is what it is, and it's been around for a LONG TIME. I used it YEARS ago (before my CND training), and liked it until it grew out. I used it on myself until I went back to CND and discovered Brisa, then quit using the stuff altogether. It shows where you "filled," has no longevity, and can be very brittle. I DID however keep some of it and used it for "party nails" for girls wanting sets for a special occassion, but I don't even do those anymore ;)

I favor a deep smile line on Forever French sets, and can only acheive this with my own hand. ;)

Other than that, I agree with everyone else, make those selling you something new TELL you why they are better. Fact check the crap out of them. It makes YOU a better business woman. ;)

My answer would be... what are you going to do when it's time to rebalance them?... yep, use white powder, so why not use it in the first place

If someone used this line on me i would have to ask myself, first of all did they leave by their own accord or were they pushed ?

Also it's their job to sell this product and what better way than saying it's better than the leading brand

Do a search on tip and dip chick, you might be surprised:D

It amazes me how companies are allowed to speil this BS
