Hi all nail geeks, i am totally new to nails as just trained, and all requests for treatments are from badly bitten nails. what systems have you found most successful on badly bitten nails?? help!! regards:cry:
I have had some great results recently with a family of 4 nail biters...
Its something i have done before and although clients are initially a little disappointed, they are soon beaming with pride at their lovely nails.
I don't tip or sculpt them...I NNO them...so they leave me with NO added length at all...but i do make what nail they have look alot better than it did.
I ask that they trust me and return in 2 weeks...
When they do i infill/re balance and point out the growth to them...this makes them smile..
2 weeks again they are ready for a little soft white free edge on the NNO...this makes them smile alot..
we then go 3 weeks...and at each time they see their nails looking nicer and nicer...and are all now proud owners of lovely french NNO that they are beginning to mention being a little long...
The reason why I think this works is....they have to put the effort in....they see that effort paying off....they are proud that they are their own nails...biting overlays doesn't give the same satisfaction and its cost them money that they don't wanna throw away....also they get used to having some free edge gradually instead of having nothing to some nail edge within 2 hours...meaning that the chances of breaking are far far less.
It works for me but its got to be effort from them...a 2 way thing...i have done this with all but 1 nail biter (she had tips) and they have all succeeded but the one i tipped...she bit them all of within a week and never came back....
thanks ever so much bagpuss for your prompt reply and sounds really great but what is NNO?? sorry complete novice at this game.!!:!:
I just remove as much as the skin as possible and expose as much of the nail as possible...then apply a coverage gel to hide any marks...file smooth and make sure there are no raggy bits to pick/bite on...they just look instantly better than before...I charge the same cos the prep time takes longer....and when they get to a 3 week infill/rebalanced on their grown nails i haven't got to then change the price to my normal.
It might not work for every nail biter but those i have done this on have all been a success.
Next time i get one i will take pics and follow on pics to show you. x
