Hiya guys, I just saw a post a while back where someone was going to try sitting on a bean bag and for the client to sit on their chair for doing pedicures. What do you think of this? Professional? Not professional?

Sounds more comfortable than what im doing now xx

Whilst it would be comfy for you to use a bean bag, its not really a steady seat, if you know what I mean.
Get yourself a plastic footstool - they do a great job. You can get them in stores like Poundstretcher, 99p shop, Lidl etc.

I think when performing massage etc, you need something that supports you much better than a bean bag. I personally would not think a bean bag would look very professional either. MO

It was me that posted that I was going to get a beanbag to sit on for performing pedi's.

In the post I was specifically referring to doing pedi's on a mobile basis. When performing a mobile service we all use equipment that we would not use in the salon, eg folding camping tables as nail tables, and my point about the beanbag is that it is lightweight therefore easy to haul around from house to house, it provides a low seating position, and it is comfortable. Of course there are other options eg footstools, but this was just one option that I thought of, being that the thread was asking for suggestions and this was just mine.
I dont believe that this would look unprofessional for use at a mobile service any less than it would look unprofessional to use a camping table as a nail station at a mobile appointment.

I am one of the brigade that DO think that working on ironing boards and poofs etc looks unprofessional, in someones home or out of it.

I'm not saying the service provided is not done in a professional manner by many. Only that it does not look professional. To my way of thinking.

Hi

I have just got myself a pedicure stool with gas lift seat and leg support attached after 2 years of struggling to do pedicures. It's brilliant and it only cost £45.00 including delivery.

Hubby paid for it as an early birthday pressie - hoping he'll forget when my b'day arives and buy me something else!

Why bother taking anything around with you? ive been mobile for 12 years and each house i go to i just use a dining room chair or a dresser table chair had no worris so far ! bean bag might be comfy for a while but it will cause you back problems in the future you need something that will support your back .

I will leave the bean bag thing then.Ill just try and find something that will be more comfy. So as my table broke do you think i shouldnt get a picnic folding table?x

Peersonally i use the kitchen table and chairs where i can they are normally of good hight and it saves me lugging a load of unnessesary things around with me plus dont think id have room in the car for a table and chairs aswell!!! hehe

Usually when clients ring up for appointments i ask if they have a dining room table etc...most have.
For pedicures a stool...the plastic ones you get to stand on to reach into cupboards will do. you dont want to take too much or it will seem a chore everytime you have to pack the car to see a client.
I had one client who didnt have table or dining chairs...and i worked just fine sat on her couch with a couch roll and towel on my lap.

thanks joanne, i was working mobile now i am home based xx

I know you are not mobile now but wanted to point out this chair to anyone who is. It has a handle for carrying it and is very sturdy. I have one in white Wooden Folding Stool shop around for the best price I paid much less but can't remember where I'm afraid! x

This would be a really funky pedicure stool if price didn;t matter! Varier Peel

Thanks Weezie! I like the wooden folding stool might be worth a try xx

I use a children's stool. Its the perfect height to keep my back straight and the clients find it easy to then put their foot/s on my lap. :)
