Hi everyone. I have searched and have found some useful info, but am in a dilemma and need some expert advice please!

Right. I am a fully qualified Creative and Calgel nail tech.

I have done a manicure and pedicure course.

I have a VTCT in Swedish Body Massage, and an Independant Beauty Specialist Diploma in Waxing and in Indian Head Massage.

Now, I want to complete my beauty training, by doing all the eye treatments, facials, make-up, body wrapping etc but I am in a muddle with what route to take.

Here are my options.

1. Go to a College in April and do an ITEC in beauty therapy, which will cover the waxing and mani/pedi which I have already done. This will cost over £1000.

2. Wait until September and do Beauty NVQ L2, again covering the above that I am already qualified in, but will be cheaper (£400 for kit etc)

3. Go back to the place where I got the Independant Beauty Specialist Diplomas and do more short courses there. This will prob still cost me around £800+ but it would mean that I don't have to re-do what I have already learned. And I can fit them in around work.

The money isn't really an issue, it's just that I am a bit  at the thought of paying for something I have already paid to qualify in!!!!

My career plan is to gain this further experience and work in beauty, and eventually in the future become a tutor in beauty or nails or both.

I would love to hear all your pros and cons for each above course.

Many thanks.

can you not get credited for what you have already done at the college in sept? when i did my nvq l2 a girl i was with had quit half way through a previous course but as she had passes those units the tutor got in touch with her old college and she was credited those and didnt have to repeat them.

ITEC is a very desirable qualification. I would go for that, it doesn't hurt to go over things and you are bound to learn new things from a different tutor.

Hey, if you decided to do NVQ L2 Beauty could u not get APL'd (accredited for prior learning) for your manicure & pedicure?
I would ring the college for more info as they may be able to help you and offer guidance. I started by doing a make up course which included eye treatments so i got APL'd for make-up & eye treatments when i did my L2..

Thanks for the replies so far. So does anyone have any thoughts on the IBS Diploma?
The APL sounds good...

Hi, can I bump this up to hear other peoples views?
I have spoken to a close friend of mine who did her Itec at the same place as I am thinking of, and she said the service is very shambolic and the reception rude, now I know I will not be happy there especially if I am paying all that money!!!!!

In my heart I know I am leaning towards the IBS Diploma, but just want to hear peoples thoughts on that qualification.
