I posted a thread on here the other week about soaking off bio gel and got a really helpfull response and felt confident to do my first soak off client the other day. It was a complete nightmare though, i filed the top layer of gel and applied the gel remover, foils and put them in the heated mitts for 20 mins, when i took them out most of the gel was still on the nails, after another couple of attemps my client said everywhere she's been previously to have bio done they've soaked a bit off the gel off then buffed the rest, im a bit confused as i only pased my assesment last month and was never taught to remove this way. I just cant figure out why i cant get them off..

sorry for the long post

i'm surprised. was it a single application of bio or had it been filled many times?

the more layers that are on the longer it takes to get off. but a single application normally soaks off in well under 20 mins.

Hi Kayle,
I suggest that you join the Bio Sculpture Techs group Salon Geek - Bio Sculpture Techs

You will find tonnes of support and advice in there.
:green:

No, Bio Sculpture doesn't need to be soaked then buffed. The other way, yes. You need to remove the bulk at the apex with a file and break the seal on the free edge, but then it should soak off after 5 or 10 minutes max. I use the finger wrap method and by the time I've wrapped the 10th finger, the gel on the first just pushes gently away from the nail. I can do a remove, prep and replace in 45 mins, so something is going wrong.

Are you using Executive base?

This topic has also been discussed at length in our Bio Scult=pture group on here....for example...

Feel free to come and join us....I think you'd find loads of info in there to help you and you can fire away and ask if theres anything else!

Edited to add: Gelly can type faster than me! :D

Thanks for your replies, i've just joined the group..looks like theres lots of good info on there!
The nails had only been infilled once, i think i'm probably still not buffing the top layer of the gel off enough and i havent been filing the free edge to break the seal, i think part of the problem may be, as my client has said her nails has been buffed every time this could be causing the gel harder to remove.

yes, could be that they are now very porous, the gel would be sinking right into the nail plate rather than sitting on the top.

if you put executive base on before the gel, they soak off real easy.
