Ok, so not the sort of problem I think you are used to.

I am a customer looking for a Nail technician local to me that can help transform my nails from short, ugly, bitten nails, to elegant and tidy for my wedding day.

I have bitten my nails for about 25 years now, and believe me I have tried everything to stop. Even to the extent of breaking my collar bone so that I could not actually reach my mouth with my hand. My nails did grow a bit, and started to look tidier, where the cuticles had been left alone (I chew the skin too) but when I was all fixed, I just couldn't break the habit and started chewing again. I was VERY angry and depressed

Anyway, I usually buy false nails from Boots and apply them myself, but they always look fake and I find that I have to wear dark nail polish because otherwise I can see my original bitten nails through the fake ones. I don;t want to wear dark polish on my wedding day.

I have tried acrylic tips before in a french manicure style, but where my nails are so short, the finished result gave me really short nail beds to look at (because the white tips have to take over some of the bed to stay put)

I've tried a Sally Hansen acrylic tips home kit and also a friend tried to do her own acrylics on me but they fell off within a few hours

Up until now I have been too ashamed and embarrassed to go into a salon as I don't want to show them my horrible habit, but I am now after someone I can trust to do a good job and help me finally break the habit of a lifetime!

It's taken a lot of courage for me to post this so I would appreciate any help and advice. I know it's a disgusting habit blah blah blah but I can deal with that. I don't need help in breaking the habit, because to be honest I think I am beyond help, I just need someone to transform my nails for one day

Thank you

Hi Hunny

If you go to google and type in nail tech Swindon it will bring up a list of some of the nail techs in your area. I don't know if that helps? And most nail techs out there will be able to do something for you to make you look fab for your wedding day.
Goodluck with your wedding and your nails.

Maybe I can help you by giving you the number of Sweet Squared 08452106060. They are the distributors for CND which is the top nail brand in the UK.

They will have a list of Creative Master technicians or know of a good CND technician in your area. Give them a call and ask them for help and tell them exactly what you want, which is a custom blend set of enhancements for badly bitten nails.

Please do not be embarrassed about your nails. Bitten nails are something we technicians deal with every day and no one will think the worse of you for having a bad habit ... most of us have one of one kind or another.

I do suggest though that you have your nails done well before the wedding so you can get used to them and they will look their best for your BIG day.

All the best in your search, and for your wedding day too. x:hug:

Well done you have the first step to having gorgeous nails... In my salon (sorry we are in Kent ) I have a nail biters weekly programme designed to help people just like yourself to overcome the problems giving advice and encouragement and regular attention to help kick the habit... Never say Never you can stop
I think we are a little bit too far for you to come:cry: so good luck someone will help you with professional products rather than something you can buy over the counter ...
Most of us are well trained to cope with these problems and I am sure that by checking your local salons in your local directory someone will have a similar programme or advice they can give you.
The first thing I advise is to use cuticle oil several times a day and start to condition the nails and cuticles especially when you feel yourself start to put them into your mouth just get out your oil and oil away... then follow by hand cream ...
Try to identify the time when you bite the most is it watching tv or at work ???
Try to remember that there is the most germs on your finger nails and you do not want to be putting them into your mouth!!!
I bite my nails for 30 years (i am now 46 ) and they are now growing strong and healthy... I gave up when I went travelling to India and realised that I would be rather ill if I put my dirty fingers into my mouth and so stopped just like that and rarely do now.
GOOD LUCK

Thanks for your quick and kind replies already!

I've tried the google option, but I've been in two salons now to ask if they are able to help with my nails and the look they gave me  made me feel like rubbish

Will try the CND option although I have no idea what I am talking about so not confident with that! But Will try.

I'm not getting married until September but am going out to Italy, so I do need some practice!

I use Bio Sculpture Gel and have had great results and they have a list of technicians give then a call on 0845 331 2347 and they will put you in touch with someone.
You must stress its important to find someone with experience. Dont be put off by someone who has not recieved you well in the other salons you have been in its their loss not yours ... try not to be embaressed your nails are able to be fixed with a help from the right person and will power on your part xx:rolleyes:

Do not be put down by people like them, the reason i wanted to do nails is to make people feel good about themselves, they should no this. After all if you had nice long natural nails you prop wouldn't be going in there. Its there loss, let us know how you get on with nails hunny and the wedding.
When you getting married in september?

Ok so it seems by typing 'Nail Tech' rather than nail salon into Google, it generated more specialist results.

I think I would feel more comfortable with a home service

Nail biters need a perfect finish or I will definitely start to pick / bite at the free edge, and will end up peeling the nail off a bit at a time.

I would be interested in your professional opinions Ladies

I have looked at the pics they are a big improvment but they still don't look great to me. But i am still new to this.

Hi Nugget....its not really helpful for you or us to post links to sites of nail techs and for us to comment on...it wouldn't be fair to those nail techs.

if you are not sure then maybe go and visit them and ask if they can do a sample nail for you.

Sorry if I broke the rules, I've emailed the lady from V-nails anyway asking her if she is able to help without leaving the 'gap' that I would no doubt start to chew and pick at.
