I am back in the business after 10 years break, and after recommendation from here I am about to start using Attaction NSI when I had been using Simplicite NSI.

I have had a lot of clients with really bitten nails with lots of dirt underneath which I cant get out and wondered what colour would be best to use to hide this, as I was using pink veil (simplicite) which showed it all through.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You would need to use a coverage pink to cover the bad bits, although maybe soaking the fingers for a while and using a good nail brush may help?

I think when some people bite their nails that badly, they sometimes get stained with dirt.

I'm not sure if NSI do a coverage pink, but that is what you need, an opaque pink to cover imperfections on the nail bed and then you can also make the nail bed look longer and give the nail balance. HTH's.

Thanks for that I will contact NSI and see what they have.

They have attraction pink mask hth

First of all I would get your clients to scrub their nails with Nail Brite, its sold by the Hyperion group and really fab!! It whitens the underneath of the nail whilst giving it a good clean! There is nothing worse than clients coming to you and expecting you to clean under their nails for them! YUK!!
I understand that some nail biters can get their nails stained etc etc.
Then try one of the mask colours as said! ^^ xxx

Thanks all - you have been brilliant. Going to try all your suggestions.

Practically all my clients so far have had nails like these - gross

With the NSI Technicolours can you use them on their own without mixing and if so, whats the colour come out like?

I'm not sure what you mean byt the last bit.

You get a pack of colours, I think 9 different ones and a glimmer powder. There is a colour chart included too, you can make over 100 different colours following the chart and scoops included.

If you look at their website you can see each individual colour and yes, you can use these seperately if you want to create say a pink french etc etc.

There is a pic in my gallery of a black french, this was created with a custom NSI blend and the Technail Black powder with glimmer powder added, just to give you an idea.

Hi Larnie!

I feel your "pain". I've been out for over 20 years and am contemplating getting back into the gig.....and since I've made that decision I've noticed exactly what you are talking about (and thats observation, not work, I'm so not ready to work on other people yet).

Back to the matter at hand......my middle daughter is a biter and a bad one at that. Some days it looks like there is inground dirt around the entire nail cuticle to end. Drives me insane, but its working. I've got her on a program now to help her grow out but this is what I do with her.

I remove whatever polish she has and I soak her hands in the hottest water she can stand to soften the skin (cos as you know biters have leather cuticles, etc). Then I massage solar balm vigourously into her cuticles etc. (calms her down too actually). Once that is done we wash with a nail brush and a cleaner that I have from the hospital (disinfectant) so its all good. Slowly I work with a blunted orange stick to get it all out, trim hangnails where necessary and have her wash again.

Now I don't do enhancements on her as she is only 8 and your question is relative to enhancements, but if I did, I would make a custom mix for her (geeg's is on here somewhere, if you do a search) for a mask pink and natural.

Send them home with an aftercare kit that includes a nail brush and the cleaner you decide to use with whatever system (not sure what NSI offers, but the geeks here can lead you in the right direction). and solar oil.

I say the last because I am a biter too and had those same issues and found with religious use of the Solar Oil, a lot of the dirt loosened itself after I had the enhancements and as long as I made a routine of brushing and oiling by the time the free edge was out, it was clean as a whistle.

sorry so long, but I hope this helps....and good luck!

I shall try all your suggestions.

As I have a kit of Creatives (left by previous nail tech) I might try and get some liquid for that and try mixing my own with that. I dont think the owners of the salon will be too pleased if I ask for another kit. Especially as I have already got NSI Attraction for my normal powders. (Told the boss that I wanted to use NSI not creative)

Thanks everyone.

I think the NSi kit is on offer atm, take a peek on their site. I'm fairly certain its down in price.

Failing that, the ones that I used for the custom blend are in that link i gave in an earlier post on here, you could just buy the ones you need for that. Personally I would use the NSI if thats what you are trained in.

Yeah you might be right Rachel - stick to what I know. I am sure they wont mind me buying the ones you suggested.

Rachel: I presume when you quote millilitre you get a measuring scoop or something with the powders - will I get one if I am just buying singles though?

Possibly not if you are buying just one or two powders. Ask NSI and they may send u some. If they cant/wont then let me know and I've got a spare one you can have.
