hi every one

i am new to this site and this is my first question so sorry if i have put this in the wrong place as still finding my way around the site ..

i recently have rented space in a tanning salon roughly 5 weeks ago ... still very excited about it all:) .. i have been qualified for 2 years and work with L&P and use NSI products ... my question is to to see if any one could please help me out here as i feel stumped !!!

A client came in for a full set of L&P everything went fine and she seemed really pleased she mentioned to me whilst we were chatting that she was going on holiday 2 days after her appointment so i recommended she had glaze and go on the the finish of her nails she said she didnt want to as it wouldnt be that hot and she had been on holiday plenty of times before with just a top coat or sealer and never any problems ... so off she went on holiday and when she came back she came into the salon and said her nails went black whilst she was away !!!! i was so shocked as i have never heard of this before .. slighty discoloured or even mushy due to the lotion but never black !! she says she bought a pink nail varnish whilst she was there to cover it and when she got back she removed the polish with polish remover and the black came off with it!!! i asked if she had any problem with the nails before she went away and she said no she says it started on the second day.. when she came in the salon all her nails were in tact .. no lifting , no discolour , they just looked like L&P with no top coat !! she went to tenerife for 1 week and needless to say i have not gained a regular client there, feel worried about it all as like i say trying to build up clients as business new and feel if word gets around i will loose other clients as well as a few are booking for infills as they seem pleased and happy with my work .. oh please help or any advice to prevent this happening again... sorry for the essay

Don't worry hun, I don't think it is anything that you have done/not done. I would say she has used some sort of lotion, dye, went swimming in a pool that has some sort of chemical in it, maybe even some sort of detergent in a spa or something like that.
If it is only happening while she is on holidays then it must be something SHE is doing/not doing. Don't stress over it, it's not you :)

Proberly becourse she have used a sunscreen lotion, that can discolor some nails.. but if it is gone when she remove the top coat it is something that she did not you..:)

wouldnt worry. definitly sounds like something she did. have found a few time
s on holiday that the sealer or topcoat on my nails can get soft and off colour. i usually put it down to the chlorine in the pool as it only ever happens on sun holidays where i have been on the pool a lot.

Don`t worry hun its deffo something she has used if it came off when she removed the polish.

Hi,

I had a clients nails go dark grey whilst on holiday - I used NSI Thermoshield on her nails????? It came off when I buffed them at the next appointment. Never used it again & never had the problem again.
I use CND products now.

Might be worth a call to NSI to see what's in their top coat products?

I completely agree with everyone else, if it was something you had done wrong then it would have still been there when she showed you her nails after her holiday. Sounds like it was something else that just got onto her nails and discoloured them, but came off easily enough. If you had caused it she wouldn't have been able to wipe it off with the polish remover. I wouldn't worry about it

Could she have St Tropez'd before she went away?..... Without using gloves.

Sounds like dye transfer to me, something like new black jeans, with a dense colour to them would do this. I've had this a couple of times and always been able to put it down to new clothing, that hadn't been washed yet.
xx

thanks every one for your advice .. feel much better about it all now ... just that i have never had anybody come back from holiday with black nails before thanks guys  i really love this site .. wish i had found it a long time ago ,thanks again you have put my mind is at ease now !!

It has to be dye transfer, this happened to my toe nails when I wore a new pair of black sandals!!
