Hi Guys! :)
I was wondering if you could give me some advise? - My Client yesterday had her brows waxed (by me), as she's done many times before. I used warm wax using strips as usual, the same wax as we always do, i tested the temperature on myself and it was fine, she said the temperature was fine aswel. Also applied soothing aloe vera gel after the wax and all was well. But she came in today saying that her brows, especailly the skin under her brows still feels really tender and sore:eek:. after examining it, i didnt find any nics or cuts or brusies, but it did look very slightly red and very slightly swollen, not hugley swollen or red but still. So I gave her some Aloe Vera Gel and Gauze Strips that i told her to use as a cold compress on her brows to help with the swelling and tenderness. I explained not to rub them, no make-up, perfumed lotions, excessive sweating etc.

Is there any other advise you would give and can you think why she would feel this extra tenderness the day after??
She's never had a proplem before and we did the same procedure as always.
I asked her if she was on any differnet medication and she said no, nothing different at all.
She did say that she had her brows waxed on holiday but wasn't pleased with them and they used the hot wax without strip and was really srcapping at her brows to get it of, but that was in April and plus it was'nt as tender of sore as this afterwards and she hasn't touched her brows since.

I keep thinking if i did something different- like maybe i didnt strecth the skin enough but i always make a point to do this.

Any advise would be greatly appreciate guys as I feel a little worried and she was so nice about aswel!

Thanks and have a great day!! :)

I have on occasion had the same problem when i get my own eyebrows waxed. I once even had a bruise after the treatment and to be honest the therapist was very good and thorough like yourself, maybe its a one off. It might even be that her skin has become a little sensitized when she had them waxed on holiday due to the method they used. You sound like you think you might have done something wrong but i think you did everything by the book so put it down to a one off. xx

I have been waxing for around 15 years and have yet to discover why, sometimes, clients will get a reaction like this. You can wax them for years and then just one day they will react and never react again! It's a phenomenon! Ha ha! It wont be anything that you have done wrong and probably wont happen again for a long time. :) xx

^__^ I agree with shedunlop. I am yet to discover the reasons why some clients react like this for no apparent reason!

The same thing has happened to me a handlefull of times. Once it came to light that my client had been using a Vitamin A eyecream and applied it to her brow bone ... hense the reason why she had red scaley skin the day afterwards! Also, a client failed to fill out on her record card that she had diabetes so again the same reaction happened!

But do not worry with this client you have done your best with the aftercare you have given her. If you are worried or not sure whether to wax her again i would pluck her eyebrows from now on.

:) xx

thanks a bunch guys! :)) - it might be just the one off. this client is going to keep me up-dated. I'll try to stop worrying now! hehe!

I often wonder if hormonal changes affect the way people react to waxing sometimes? It would sure explain why a client would react all of a sudden after being ok beforehand.

It's just one of those things and nothing you've done wrong by the sounds of it. You never know what the client has done once they've left the salon. Who knows! She might have put make up straight on and got a slight infection. It really could be anything. xxx
