Hello everyone, just wondered if anyone can give me any tips on buffing down the gels when doing an infil on someone with bio sculpture nails. I am still practicing at the moment getting ready for my test in October as I have to do 5 infills, i did my first set of infills on my mum yesterday and as i was buffing away with the purple buffing block her finger started to get sore and turn red! I tried not to buff too hard after that but if i dont buff with a bit of pressure nothign will come off and when I went to do the colour overlay you could clearly still see where the nail had grown as there was a huge wave from the cuticle to the old gel. Any tips on which buff i can use instead of the purple block or any other tips that will help when buffing down the old gel?
Also when i go for my assessment, does anyone know if i need to complete a client card? Thanks to eveyone, this site has been so helpful.

Hi
Im pretty new to Bio Sculpture but I did do my assesment last week and no you do not need to fill a client card in. You will need to complete 5 infils (colour) and on the other hand you will need to do:
1 x No 19 (red)
1 x Clear French with S-Gel Finish
1 x Pink French
1 x Silk Repair
1 x Pearl

Hope this helps

It sounds to me like you may be applying your product a little thickly. The layer of gel near the cuticle should be very thin indeed, so there should not be a big layer of gel to buff off.

I've seen a tip which says to keep your thumb across the part of the natural nail that is exposed - that way it ensures you only file the gel when doing an infill.

I hope that helps a bit.

Helen.

Have to agree with Helen you are probably making yourself a lot of work by applying too much gel in the cuticle area.Concentrate on keeping this thin and your infils will be so much easier and quicker.

Thank you for the tips i shall try only applying 2 thin layers of gel, still do not seem to have the brush under good control yet but i guess practice trys to make perfect! Thanks Helbels, i will try the tip on putting thumb over by the cuticle to avoid scrubbing too hard. x
