Hi guys,
I was watching the training DVD for Calgel the other day and noticed they stuck the tip to the nail will the full well area in tact. In all my experience (in training - being a client - chatting to other techs etc) I always thought that shouldn't happen and there should only be a small well and none at all is even needed.
It certainly shouldnt cover more than a 3rd of nail bed.

Am I wrong?? I'm more confused now than before I watched the bloomin thing

xx

hi ya, did the dvd show you to put clear gel on the natural nail and cure then buff and then apply a tip because this is what they teach and that allows you to use a full well tip (but this also depends on the clients nail bed size !no good for small ones!)
It is not a good idea to cover more than half the nail bed with the well in this way but sandwiching the tip between calgel does give the enhancement more strength than a short welled tip would if you have a decent sized free edge. Calgel being a softer gel than a buff off gel.
I do not tip that often as I prefer to sculpt but when I do tip I judge what to do by the size of the nailbed and how the client wants them and how they use their hands. It all comes with practice really.

Yes, it was on a layer of clear gel. That has cleared it up for me. Thank you. Thought I was going barmy

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I would think that one could trim the well if need be and still apply over the gel base if dealing with a shortish nail bed?

I prefer to sculpt myself so have little experience with this and have not used my Calgel for yonks :green: due to other pressures. However, as long as the trimmed tip is correctly blended into gel base and then adequately covered with a builder layer with apex correctly placed, then this should provide a stable enhancement?

What do you think?
