I was taught in school when doing gray use double pigment.
My step dad is very gray. I have been using 66/0 with 30 vol.
It doesn't seem to hold the color long. When I was in school my instructor said when using double pigment using 10vol or 20vol will get better results.
Definitely doesn't work in this case.
I am so lucky he's my dad and doesn't mind but I'm very emberassed.
Any tips? I'm a wella user

Do you measure or use scales. Are you using 6% and are you leaving it on 40 mins?

With him being male. He isn't using head and shoulders, vosene or Pantene is he?

I measure properly I time 45 mins. I'm not 100% sure what shampoo he uses.
I use wella koleston perfect 66/0 with 3o vol

Use 6% welloxon peroxide , something's wrong because wella shampoos don't just slide off the hair. :/

Why 30? It's grey coverage you need 20vol x

your not lifting just depositing so only use 6%.....

There are drops you can get to add to your color. They work very well. Several brands. You can pre soften the hair be applying 10 or 20 peroxide by itself then mix and apply your color. 10 volume in your tint provide a demi permanent result. 20 is needed due to the gray resistant nature.

Am not a wella user but don't be using 30 vol 9%, always stick to the lowest you can, I go through 2 bottles of 10 vol to every bottle of 20 vol, and the 30 and 40 vol bottles last so long I often bin half a bottle incase its lost strength over time. Xoxo

use 1/2 55/0 + 1/2 66/0 with 6%.leave on for 40mins
maybe his hair is very resistant

Wouldn't it be worth pre softening the hair first?
