I sold quite a few gift vouchers over christmas, and they expire in 25.3.09.

So far only 1 person has redeemed their vouchers. So got about another 20 to go! Where is everyone?

I had about 6 vouchers last year that didnt return .... easy money for me... but it makes me wonder why they didnt come in the first place.

However, I had a call on Wednesday last week asking to book in with an Areo pomotion voucher... when I explained that they were last Easter's promotion... she was adimant there wasnt an expiry date on her voucher... so I said she had either got a 'dodgy' voucher or she had missed that it clearly stated it expired on 1st September 08 ... cheaky begga put the phone down on me... pfft!

ruddy cheek of it Jen!
good for you remembering the date.

I had someone turn up with a gift voucher that was 2.5 years old and wasn't even mine! I took over 2 years ago.
I agreed to meet her half way and did a treatment for halfprice.

didn't expect her to return like, if it took her 2.5 years to make an appointment, but you never know! she took my details for her WI meetings for a possible talk in the future.

I usually end up getting about 5 unredeemed, and I do let people go over their date if they ask nicely.

I put a years date on my vouchers to make them use them and hopefully become new clients. Have sold quite alot of vouchers. Some do come in to use them pretty soon after Christmas, some don't come in at all. Like you say it is easy money but I would rather they used them. I know that if I had a voucher I would be in straight away.
How long do you put on your vouchers?

I put 6 months on discount vouchers & a year on the others. I make a note of all the vouchers I take and there are always a few that don't get used, probably due to them disappearing down the back of drawers etc.

If it's a paid for voucher I'll accept it however long it is after the date, but only for the value that was paid for. That's to say if someone buys a manicure at £20, the voucher is out of date & manicures have gone up to £25, they would have to pay the difference.

Blimey, I remember a couple of years ago we did a promotion that was advertised on Hovis wrappers - and wot a nightmare it turned out to be. All the 'clients' that came in with the vouchers seemed to have a problem. :irked::irked: They complained about the treatment (half price manicure I seem to remember), wanted to swap it for a pedicure, wanted it on a day that it wasn't valid etc etc I vowed NEVER, EVER, EVER again to do one of those offers . . . none of them came back again ( thank God ) nor did I gain one regular client.
I organise my own promotions now which works much better

I put a 3month exp on ALL my vouchers unless they are regualr clients i let them have 6 months. I have to say I thought Jan was going to be awful but i have been fully booked nearly every day. I think it has helped that we are doing loads of specials. We have had a few vouchers in already from the Xmas break I think people may hold out until Valentines day and get some nice treatments done then.

I took part in an Andrex promo years ago when had my salon.

It was 1 voucher per person - they could choose from mini mani, pedi, facial or back mass.

I did a lady for a facial - she seemed really nice.

Then a week later the lady came back with another voucher booked under another name with my other therapist.

I recognised her straight away and she was adamant she hadn't been before - but it was her - she walked out when my therapist said 1 treatment per person only and she would have to pay for this one. Nowt surprises me anymore.

And it wasn't my eyes - it was her - honest!!!LOL
