My ongoing saga of trying to find a suitable course i have been ringing round to local salons too see what they say..

My options are to do an NVQ level 2 then 3 or to do a CIBTAC..

What does anyone think is better.. for any reason what so ever!

Everyone i have spoken too (just like you guys) said i really do have to have an NVQ3..

A manager of a very nice salon said she has a CIBTAC and that is kind of equilivant to the NVQ3?? Is this true??

Truthfully im so confused.. im so glad i have made my mind up to do this course but WOW! i have beautician course brain overload!

Hugs to you all

Hiya

Just a bit of info. It's a bit hard to say which CIBTAC qualification you mean, but yes, there is one that is equivolent to NVQ level 3.

WOW! Thanks for your help! ummm well i wanted to do the full beauty course and have seen it for about £6,000 in london..

A) its a lot more expensive.. but it seems to cover more than the NVQ3

I have a CIBTAC and was told that it is a recognised qualification worldwide, if you wanted to work abroad that is! I don't know if that is also the case with nvq's? They wasn't around when I was training but now employers ask for nvq's or equivalent so won't affect your job prospects either way.

Hope that helps a bit!

NVQ's are recognised in most parts of the world. Main exceptions are USA, the French speaking part of Canada and some parts of Italy off the top of my head.

Hope this helps a bit (sorry if it adds to your confusion)

Hi Mizzmarni,
I'm now going through the same confusing choices that you were last year. I've finally decide to do the CIBTAC Aesthetic Treatments Diploma and go back to complete the Body Therapy portion at a later date. My confusion now is what college to go with. Would love to know what choices you made and how your finding whichever course you went with.
Hope all is well.

I've got two qualifications, CIBTAC and Cidesco.. Both are the equivilent to nvq3. As long as you have a body treatment qualification (usually not covered in nvq2) employers will hire you. Especially in a spa type salon where body massage is very popular, nvq2 probably won't be enough!
However, doing a CIBTAC qualification will probably cost you more.. I paid stupid amounts for mine but it only took a year, as opposed to the nvq that would have taken 3!!
