Hi all, im new to the forum, and to nails! Just qualifed on 5th July as a Nail technician. I am absolutely loving what i do, but i just have one problem....getting Customers

i have done a leaflet drop a few times around different areas, ive advertised on facebook, put up leaflets in my fiances Cafe. So far ive had to 3 customers from it, and all 3 will not need rebalanced as they are only here on Holiday.

How did you all get your name out there? and how long did it take to get known?
its quite frustrating as i really want and need the practice to get better etc.

Any advice grately received.
Thanx from an irish newbie. xxxx:green:

Hi

Its very hard to get your name out there and get started, especially if you are mobile. If you are based in a salon, then at least you have your window and perhaps A board signs to advertise.

There are a number of things you can do to help yourself:-

1 Do your friends at a reduced rate and get them to advertise/recommend you
2 Get a website
3 Advertise somewhere on the internet apart from your website ie yell.com, up your street, freeindex etc
4 Have an open evening and give taster treatments, invite your friends and ask them to bring a family member, work colleague or another friend (who you don't already know) along with them, give discount vouchers on the night and offer taster treatments - you can still do an open evening at home even if you are mobile.
5 Get round the local schools and put your name down to do teachers pamper evenings and school fairs

Whatever you do, remember it takes time to build up a customer base - it doesn't happen overnight and it takes a lot of hard work and knockbacks before you get there.

It also helps to have a regular income coming in - perhaps from a part time job until you are able to fully support yourself.

Good luck with your business - search this site for more ideas and don't give up!

Another suggestion is to do the nails of women who are in contact with other women.

One of my best customers for referring others to me was a lady who worked in the supermarket on the check out. So many people noticed her beautiful nails and asked her where she got them done!! I armed her with plenty of my business cards and she would hand them out or just tell people where to find me. She sent me dozens and dozens of clients over the years.

See if your local wedding shop will hand out or display your cards or leaflets.

Hand leaflets out at your local school or get anyone you know who has children there to do it for you.

There are all sorts of creative ways you can use to tell people where you are. Think .... where do women go? Who do I know who is in contact with other women? and above all else, DO GREAT WORK. Good Luck

Hi

It is really hard to get a good client base but stick at and you will get there. I started from scratch about 2 years ago and i still find it hard at times but it definatly picks up as time goes on. The suggestions from the others are great. One of the best things i did was create a website and register with all the free online directories. I get alot of people through my website.

Like Jules said why not do a pamper/nails party at your house. Great girls night in. Get some nibbles and wine and give all your friends mini treatments. Make sure you have all your leaflets/business cards etc to give to them and maybe an introduce a friend voucher. If they get someone else to have a treatment then they can have a half price treatment for example.
Also have a look in the Biz forum there are often loads of ideas and tips for marketing and advertising in there.

Good Luck Hun.
xx
