Is this common, a client asking for a particular brand or does it come down to they really dont mind

I think both.

My experience is that most of my clients trust CND implicitly and always ask specifically for it once they have had it. They are very loyal to the brand as well as the technician.

It happens..
But I personally don't think this situation is common for one very good reason - the technical skills of the tech matter more. A bad tech will do a bad job even if the product is good. And most clients realize that fact pretty soon.
At least that's what I can conclude from my experience: when people look for a tech they tend to rely rather on the reputation of the tech than the brand.

Of course if they've known only one brand and have had positive experience with it and ! have asked the name - which is not very natural IMO (do you often ask hair-stylists what they use? I don't ;) ) - it's normal to ask for that brand if they have to find a new technician for some reason.

Super advice from ris.

I agree its rare to get a client to ask what you use, and I have used CND for 7+ Years. I think certain brands get marketed more and often by the techs that use them but as ris said its down to how good the tech is more than just the brand itself. Although some brands have superb educators making their techs the best out there which helps.

We as therapists must educate our clients, however that said some therapists will mislead clients too by giving them false information.

If a client does request a certain brand, I ask them why they want that brand and then explain the benefits of what I use.
