Help please,

My acrylic nails always seem to be slightly cloudy or pale in colour and I don't know why. I use pro impression clear and salon system pink and white and I can't get the crystal clear pink I have seen on so many people.

No one has commented on it, its me thats not so happy with the look. Any ideas?

This is not a brand I have tried but do they not have a crystal clear pink.

Is the clear, crystal clear or is it cloudy also - you could try it on the nail plate to see how clear it is - if you have not already.

Just a thought.......

What were you trained with?

It's never a good idea to mix different companies powders with different companies liquids - as in Pro-Impressions Powder & Salon Systems liquid for example.

It could be the reason for the problems hun.

Stick with one company's products or do a complete change over, having done the relative conversion course with the new company, so as to understand how to best use the products & eliminate problems, like the one you are having maybe a good way to go.

another reason might be your monomer. Keep your monomer clean and clear. Cloudy monomer will surely affect the end result of your acrylic nails.

I think your monomer could be the problem also...or you could be working the product when it's too wet which dulls or makes the colour change as the pigment in the powder is being diluted. To keep your monomer fresh..after placing bead and working it wipe bruch before putting back into monomer. Another thing is storage of your brush, don't leave it standing upright as old monomer travels down into the metal part of the brush and is then deposited into your fresh monomer next time you go to use it. it's difficult to offer advice when you are mixing brands .........
this is why it's not recommended...... when you mix products, you're on your own

Thanks for that, sorry I wasn't clear but I either use pro impression for clear - with their monomer OR salon system pink and white with their monomer.

I don't mix the two don't worry! But the advice has made me think about using 2 dappen dishes - one for the white and one for the pink as I have just been using one and maybe the white is clouding the monomer when I add the pink.

I always store my brush point down too! And I am coming to the end of a bottle of monomer so hoping a new bottle might help too.

Thanks for all the advice though!!!! :)

Also to ask -

cloudy at application - most likely contamination, however you will be able to see your monomer going milky as you are working, or it could be a drastic amount of tiny air bubbles throughout the application? If you are experiencing either of these you really need to have an educators help with your application technique...

cloudy several days or so later - then this is UV light over curing and ageing the product. Solution, try another higher quality brand.. you get what you pay for.

Just to add to what's already been said ,maybe get some samples from high end companies,to compare the clarity of the products. And always give your brush a good swill and wipe after your white application if your mix ratio and application is spot on you shouldn't need fresh monomer however it will be trial and error until you figure out what's causing the problem. hth's
