I am taking a 10 week evening course at college and the kit supplied is CND. The tutor literally did one demo on our very first day and has left us to carry on our own (she had only been introduced to CND product the week before herself!). 4 weeks in and she is expecing us to bring a client in and do a ful set of extensions with acrylic.

I have been practicing but they turn out awful! I can not seem to get the ratio to powder to liquid correct. She said there is a method as in:
Dip brush in, count 1,2 and on 3 to dip it in fully with sharp movements andf then once brush out of powder count going going gone and that should be the correct ratio. Does anyone have a different method of getting the corrct ratio as the more i practice the worse i get :|.

Also whern i buff away to even out the acrylic, it all turns white with white cracks and marks is this due to not the right consistency? sorry to write such a long report!! all help would be appreciated.

Sammy,
The tutorial in the above post is great this is what i use with creative.
I hold my brush on top of my powder for around 3 seconds and lift it out, watch it wet through then i place it on the nail and let it settle for around 3 sec then pat out. If my mix is a little wet, I wipe my brush on an nail wipe to absorb some on the liquid then pat out. If it is a little dry I dip my brush in the monomer and wipe my brush on both sides of my dish then pat out.
Hope this helps and you need to talk to your teacher to, ask lots and lots of questions, dont be afraid to ask coz everyone else is prob wondering to.

I agree with Yvette... ask your tutor to give you another demo and show her the problems you are having. This is what your tutor is for

I would never re dip my brush into monomer if the bead is too dry to pat out. The monomer should never be used without powder. It is an over exposure risk. Just follow the tutorial and you can't go wrong. It is what I used to get my ratio correct and then practice practice practice.
