Hi,
I was just wondering if everyone includes extractions in their facials?
I love doing the facials but find it hard (even though heat is used) and time consuming removing the comedones!
Would a client feel cheated if this was not included?
Should i state in my menu that it is not included?

When I had that done in a facial back in 2000, I actually found it rather painful, unless that was an issue with the technique of the therapist who did it. Quite a contrast to the rest of the facial which was really relaxing.

Thats what i thought...to me...facials are meant to be relaxing and a lovely experience!
So i could obviously concentrate on the massage more maybe rather than the torture!

Also I have not seen comedone extraction mentioned in any of the descriptions for facials in the treatment menus for any of the web sites I have designed. So if you were to mention all the other elements to each facial treatment, then you would not need to specifically state the absence of comedone extraction, as you would have mentioned everything else that would take place during each facial treatment.

Hi I have a range of facials in my list. They range from a nice relaxing facial to caci to one i do which is a aha facial with extractions. I state in the treatment list what each facial is designed for and the aha one specifically says it is designed for someone who is concerned with congested skin.
Facials can be lovely and relaxing however i find that my most regular and loyal clientelle don't just want the relaxation part they want results.
So i think it's best to offer different facials which provide different things

Hiya ! I would definetly include extractions in all of my facials, i think it gives the skin an all over better appearance, and most clients do not extract properly at home, and end up with pitting and scarring .. even blockage :)

why do i keep reading this as comedian extraction???

It really depends on what the clients want from the facial. I have clients that only really want a facial to target comodones. So I will spend longer doing this and cut the massage time down.
If a client is not bothered or not wanting me to extract I will make it clear that I will increase their massage time.
It's all about the consultation hun, gather as much info as you need in order to give your client the treatment that they want.
They have to be realistic in their expectations as sometimes they are hard to get out. So I recommend they drink more water and have a course of treatments.
Hope that helps xxx

it really depends if the facial is more of a relaxation facial or a result driven facial, personally most of the facials we do are result driven as thats what our clients want, i wouldnt feel like i wasnt doing a thourgh facial without the extractions. make sure you are steaming the skin enough i have the steamer on the skin while cleansing it helps give a deeper cleanse and opens up the pores then also make sure you are exfoliating b4 your extractions i find this helps make it easier then i pop a scaling fluid on the area that i am extracting from and steam for 5-7mins then extract.
also check your techniqe stretch the skin outwards either side of the comidone to open the mouth of the pore then heap the skin together and wiggel to ease the comidone out that should do the trick. xx

Wow thats great advice...you've shed new light on how to do it more efficently aswell so thank you.
I think i will get more practise in then offer a few different types of treatments! :)
