Hello everyone. I would firstly like to thank everyone that replied to my thread 'what makes a good teacher', it as really helped me.

The next quiry I have is, it is obvious from my picture I am a great fan of tattoos, I have my chest, knuckles and various other places tattooed (I do not regret these, I thrive from them, so please no nasty comments on such things).

I hopefully will gain a place on the teaching course which will enable me to teach beauty students but I am in two minds whether I should camoflauge my knuckles (upper and lower) to give me a better chance of securing my place when I go for my interview?

I don't know if this will go against me as some lecturers welcome all sorts of individuals but I'm just not too sure.

I don't want to appear to be someone I'm not.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Zoe

hi
i am also a HUGE tattoo lover i have a full back peice taht goes down one arm and am booked in june to get the other arm done,
most of my clients don't bat an eye lid,
but the older ones do :p
i am hairdresser and do not wear a 'uniform' so its a bit different
but i think its still descrimination, if they don't give you the job coz of tattoos its the same as being sexist ect....
thats who you are!!! xx:Love:

I would go as you are.

If you got the job, would you camo these tattoos every day? i think you should show how proud you are of your tattoos. I'm tattooed but nothing visible yet, was gonna get my neck done at the weekend but chickened out last minute cos I Didn't like the look of the shop.

If they don't take you purely because you are tattooed - how will you feel if they took you on cos you had camo-ed and then when you don't have the camo on....

Good luck with it all, you seem passionate. xx

I'd say in my opinion, it would depend on what you have tattood on the knuckles. If they artistic pctures, fair enough, but if they are of the "love" "hate" kind, crudely done when you were younger, then I would probably say you should cover them.

oh yeah i agree!! haha
nothing offensive on show is defo teh way to go haha x

Thank you everyone. The college where I would be doing my teacher training in class (if i get on fingers crossed) is the place where I got taught.

My knuckles says 'TREASURE YOUR TIME' so not offensive.

I think the way I deliver my presentation to the interviewers on 'what makes a good teacher' will determine my place and not what I look like. Obviously if they say that I have a place providing I cover the tattoos up that will be a different story

Good luck, hope you get accepted!
