Hi Geeks, not been on here for a while. I do mobile spray tans and have recently been let down by a few group bookings, so have gone down from doing 7 tans in an evening to 1. I'm getting a bit fed up with this & am thinking of taking deposits but am unsure how it will work - i'm thinking unrefundable to make people think twice before cancelling but not sure how to word this - am also wondering whether paypal or bank transfer is better - what do you do? x

So annoying when this happens. I would take a non refundable deposit payable minimum 24/48hrs before treatments. Personally I would accept cash, bank transfer or paypal transaction. I have facility to accept card payments on my website through paypal. I have a deposit amount of £5pp for tanning parties.

Thanks Lil'Gem, do you take deposits for individuals too? x

I don't currently take them but will start to do so. I had a girl have HD brows and she was short £5 after also buying some retail product. She just transferred it by PayPal took seconds! She then said a girl who used to do her nails always took a £5 deposit which came off her final bill. Great idea! I will only do it for bookings over £50.00 x

I don't for individual spray tans but do for group bookings. I would request a deposit from a client who had previously messed me about. I do most of my tans from home (have a cabin in my garden) and generally don't have issues with clients cancelling or not showing etc. I tend to find I have more issues with mobile clients. I may consider taking deposits in the future for mobile appointments.
