Dip dye

Has anyone done the dip dye method? I want to do a clients really long hair using this method to achieve pink ends, i was going to just apply free hand but wanted to pick someone's brains first!

Yess I have done a dipdyed look where I first bleached the hair, toned the roots and midlengths white, and had the ends pink. Its mainly free hand application yes, you can use foils to keep bits in place etc, but mainly just painting the colour on as you see fit.
