Hiya, I'm brand new to this but have always wanted to do nails. I was wondering how accessible the training is to disabled people? are training venues wheelchair accessible? is there any training companies that will allow you to bring an escort with you?
I don't want my disability to stop me fulfilling my dream job but just wanted to check these things out and see if you guys had any experience with these issues.
Thanks for your help.

I'm trying to remember where solihull is :) I think its up north so from what I remember of Creatives place when I went there, I was so excited to be meeting Gigi that I really didn't take much notice of the surroundings lol BUT!!!
Its an industrial complex so it should have a nice big lift there they usually have, and inside yes it's defiantly big enough for wheel chair access.
Yes you would be fine to bring your escort with you, you need someone to be your model so everyone brings one with them.
Because I'm a total ditzy person I can't remember the phone number:rolleyes: but if you pm Geeg she will be able to give you all the details of how to contact the office for price, access, contents etc.
Good luck hun:hug:

I can tell you that the training room in Leeds head office is on the 2nd floor and there is no lift so help would be required to get up one flight of stairs, BUT once on the 2nd floor, it is wheel chair friendly and the loo is on the same floor. There is not a disabled loo but with a person to help, this may not be a problem.

When S2 move to a new premesis next year, they will make certain there is more easy/friendly access for those who need a wheel chair.

I have long thought that nails is just a perfect job for those who need to be in a wheelchair and definitely those ones should not be held back but be encouraged to come into the nail business.

Thank goodness for a non ditzy person:green:
When is S2 moving Gigi?
I have high hopes of my daughter moving out next year and will be wanting some back to basics training as well as new stock before I re open my home studio, unfortunately my oh would sulk for ever if I came over to you in Spain:lol:

All colleges are wheelchair friendly, why not try your local one and see if they do the NVQ2 Nails Services Course?

Im currently doing mine with a young lady in a wheelchair with no problems, she is really enjoying it

Pompadour in derby is wheelchair accessible and la femme in bolton Manchester

Hi there,

First of all, Welcome to the site :)

I am disabled on more than one account, one of my disibilities (deafness) I have had all my life. The other two one of which seriously effects my mobility (I cannot stand or walk for more than 5 minutes at a time as I am in severe pain) have been diagnosed in the last 2 years. Why am I telling you this? Well, I have never let my disabilities stop me from anything that I have wanted to do, (check out my profile for my current achievements) if anything it has made me more determined. I would never allow my disibilities define who I am and rule my life no matter how much they affect my day to day life and the amount of pain I am in.

so go ahead, you'll thoroughly enjoy it, regarding accessibility it is the law that colleges etc must cater for everyone.

Let us know how you get on :)

anne xx

Hey, I know also that the Pink's training academy in Derby is definitely accessible and they have another location in Tamworth so it might be worth giving them a call as it's not too far from you. HTHs

I can remember being a model for a massage class once, the lady that did my massage was partially sighted to had her dog with her, It was quite funny because I can remember her being half way through when this gorgeous yellow lab went to give me a big 'kiss' through the face hole, whilst my face was in it!
I do not think any training providers would have a problem with you bringing an escort with you xx
