As the title says do you do the same skin routine to yourself as you do to your clients in the salon? Same products, same cleaning routine etc.

Reason why I ask is cos I know a beauty therapist but at home she doesnt have a skin care routine at all, in fact she uses soap and water with E45 cream.

I have always followed the same advice I give my clients, and certainly would never dream of using cheap products on my skin, let alone soap & water. I personally feel you should be an advert for your services, so when my clients say "you're OK because your skin's lovely", I tell them how it's no accident but rather good skincare.

I can't personally see how you can offer meaningful advice to others in all honesty without following that self-same advice, to me means the person as a therapist doesn't believe in what they are saying and the value of good skincare, which will come across to the client.

I agree with you, I havent seen her in a long time but the last time I did she stayed over and that is what she did. Soap, water and E45 cream. I thought she would have been using all the best products but no, she might have changed now but some how I doubt it.

I do. I use the same things in the same order, if it works for you it will work for the clients, and as Martin says you are your own best ad!

Soap and water must just make your skin feel really tight and dry! And E45 smells horrid too! Ugh, I'll stick with my Moor Spa!

OMG your joking! Soap and e45 cream...sorry but I had to laugh lol
I think you have to be passionate about your products and know them inside out to be able to be successful in selling them.
I always cleanse, tone & moisturise twice a day and exfoliate twice a week. I am a bit rubbish at putting on my face mask as i just never get round to it but then i sleep with an oil on my face so find that i don't really need to xxx

Some people are born with good skin...all down to genetics...

For me,i work at it,cleanse, tone and moisturise, twice a day, exfoliate twice a week use a mask twice a week...i layer products as well,so sometimes i layer a mask then my aromessence balm goes on top....so yes,i practise what i preach, good skin has to be worked at...we are a walking advert for our jobs should'nt we?....groomed nails, shiny hair and glowing skin is a thumbs up for me:green:

I believe to have good skin you have to work at it, and that means cleansing, toning, serum, moisturiser (and especially here in Oz sunscreen during the day). And then a repeat of that at night with a exfoliation or 2 during the week with a mask. I like to get a salon treatment once a month too to give it a boost!
To me its a bit like the gym...if you only do it once in a while your not going to get the results you want, but if your consistant and do it all you will get the rewards!! It is exactly the same with skin care, do it every now and again then you won't see the long term results, but if you do it consistantly your skin will be great and people will comment!
You can definately see a difference in the skin of people who have used quality products and looked after it since being young and been consistant with it!! IMO:)

My skin is a very important marketing tool. I use SwissDermyl product on it all the time and prospects tell me that if it does that to my skin then they want to try it too.
I go to lots of networking meetings; I doubt I would get the business I do from those meetings if my skin looked rubbish!

I am deadly serious, she said she has really dry skin but surly there are better things out there for dry skin lol, personally I dont get it. Oh and she's a teacher now, properly a good thing :)

The thing with soap is it strips your acid mantle leaving it open to infection. It also contains thousands of bacteria on one bar.
That's probably why her skin is so dry. If she isn't careful she could end up looking really old with lots of lines.
I thought every beauty therapist knew this. Oh god chick i'm still laughing ha ha. Ask her if she wants one of us to give her a facial lol xxxx

lol I could give her a facial as I did my level 2, but didnt carry on
:-( forgot most of it now... silly me.

She's a brainy woman as well, I knew this about soap so I am sure she did. She was a beauty therapist for a good 20 years.

Ah shame you didnt carry on hun!
Some people are just stuck in their ways I guess but usually learn the hard way where skin is concerned , hey. xxx

Even though I didnt carry on I personally take skin care serious, still have a passion for it :)
