Hi, just wanted to know if you still need to file the natural nail every time the client looses a nail from it?

I keep cursing me mum, she cant keep her thumb nails on , I was starting to wonder at first if shes too heavy handed on them? Now every time I replace them,I file the natural nail to take the shine off, but do I need to do this all the time,as I obviously thinning the nail, and now beginning to wonder if this is why the acrylic is not stayin put?:irked:

i would always remove the non living tissue as per normal and buff off the shine from the nail
how often are you replacing her thumb nails?

You only need to remove the shine if there is shine...so new nail growth and anything shiney...

Every three weeks, but when I actually look at the nail I cant see any shine, so Im wondering if I should go straight on to primer, etc ,instead of filing it down again and again, as its obv. making the nail thinner.

As Angie said abouve .. if there is no shine there is nothing to remove is there?? Just scrub well with Scrub Fresh and get on with the over lay. The weaker he nail plate, the more the product will lift off. However, if she is always loosing her thumb nails then she is doing something with them that is prising them off.
