Hi Geeks,

I've just realised that when I did a new set of enhancements today I forgot to remove the shine before applying the l&p. I prepped really thoroughly and scrub freshed and used nail fresh aswell - will it make a difference?

I'm getting in a flap about it as it was my first client in a salon (been doing nails from my home salon but have just started at a local salon )- am worried as the lady I did was the sister of one of the hairdressers. I dont know whether to say anything incase she has problems or just forget about and hope they're ok. Not a good start eh?

What do you think?

Thanks, Jaynie x

Don't panic Jaynie

If you prepped thoroughly and Scrubfreshed well as well as Nailfreshed then you shouldn't have too much of a problem.
Obviously, removing the shine would have been better for adhesion, but you're not the first to forget it and you sure as heck won't be the last x

If you have prepped them really well and she is not heavy handed you may get away with it,
but if i was you i would ask in 3 or 4 days how the nails are doing, if she is having lifting or other problems with them offer to put them right and explain that it was first salon nails nerves,
im sure she will understand and be happy that you are concerned enough to ask and put things right hth

great advice girls.i agree with them both, try not to worry to much as we've all done something like this.xx

Thanks ladies,

I think I was so conscious of my timings that it just slipped my mind - they looked lovely and she was really pleased with them so fingers crossed! I'll ask her sister as she is a friend of mine anyway.

Thanks again, think I'll sleep a little better now!

Had to smile when I read this thread, I know exactly how you feel. I did exactly the same on the first set of gel toes I did. Luckily had no problem. Im sure like has been said if all other prep was done, shouldnt be a problem. xx

Just a quick update - the client came in today - I was horrified when I saw her but fortunately she was in for a wash n blow dry.

I checked they were still ok - they were (so far!) And she said all her friends loved them! Yippee thats done my confidence the world of good - just need to work on my times now!

That's great news hun, you will feel more relaxed now when doing sets,
as for your times
1, don't worry about it, as long as you are producing nice sets clients don't mind too much.
2, you will get quicker naturally just from working a salon and been busier.
3, you could use well less tips, this will save you time from not having to blend them in.
4, when clients are talking to you while you are working, don't look up at them, with a smile on your face talk to their hand instead.
5, don't look at the clock at all when doing a set, wait until you have finished the set and then look at the time, you will be amazed at the difference this can make.
hope that helps a bit hun
