Hi there,

I haven't done much electrolysis in a while but bought second hand Sterex blend machine a while ago as I have had a few requests from clients. Have been practising on friends and family to rebulid confidence. Have come across some stubborn chin hair and thick white hair on an older friend. Skin has reacted fine but wondered if anyone could tell me a safe ratio to try. Have been working on 10/ 5.0/40 (galvanic) but hair is still resistant.

I'm quite good with probing but would appreciate any advice on this particular machine's settings and how high to go safely with each treatment, mislaid notes, frustrating!:irked:.

Thanks again x

Just had a quick look at your profile and see you have been in the industry a long time! When did you train in electrolysis? If you don't mind me asking.

I don't mind you asking! Have been in the industry a long time but did electrolysis as a separate module only a few years ago as my real interest was to go on to do advanced electrolysis later.

Cool, just asking as blend wasn't really taught until fairly recently, but of course when you buy a brand new machine, you generally get a days conversion training thrown in.

So, assuming you are trained in blend (?) you may not have been trained on a Sterex machine (?)

I have a Carlton Ultrablend so I may not be much help but I did use the Sterex machine at college and I do remember the settings being a bit strange.

So, do you mean 10 seconds / diathermy 5 / galvanic 4 ??

If yes, I would put the diathermy down to 2.5 / 3 and up the galvanic and the number of seconds. Turn it up gradually until it starts working LOL.

But those white bristles you described can be the devils own job. I would blast them with diathermy personally

My electrologist does training, she would probably be open to a bespoke lesson, 1-2-1 :)

Hi

I personally never have diathermy more than 2.5.

I would agree with ZoZo and go with the option of using short wave on those few stubborn hairs.

Good luck!

It depends on the working point of your machine - so I would definately contact Sterex. For example I have a Clareblend and their guideline is 9/6(DC)/45-55 (RF) for medium terminal hairs. These settings produces 45 u.l. Some think 60 -80 units lye would be better to zap coarse to very coarse hairs so your working points are too low for the hair. However as mentioned I try and keep the Diathermy low usually at 2.5 in most cases as well but agree you are probably at the right level but would try .6 DC before raising the diathermy. It also depends on the moisture content, condition and tolerance of your clients skin and suggest like the others that using diathermy may be best depending on your opinion of the client.

Thank you all so much for your replies and help, much appreciated. I will take your advice and get in touch with Sterex to confirm. Thank you ZoZo for the link information which I have checked out. I am very interested in the refreshers which I will certainly love to do whenever I get a few spare moments....... I am determined now to get into this as much as I can as I really enjoy it and am coming across quite a few ladies who could benefit. Isn't it greater when you know exactly what your doing!!!:)

Thanks again,
