Just doing a bit of research and wondered some Beauty Geeks would share their opinions on Electrolysis - is it outdated?
Has it been overtaken by Laser hair removal treatments? Or is there room in our industry for both?

Do you offer Electrolysis as a treatment in your salon - if yes which type? How much do you charge?
Is it popular or are you finding more folk enquiring about Laser treatments?

If you dont offer it do you get many enquiries about it?

As a client do you have Electrolysis by another therapist/ Salon?

Yes i think it is outdated, which is a shame as i love doing it.

I think if its just for the odd chin hair then yes it still has its place but if someone wants there entire top lip hair free then laser is the way to go imo.

I don't offer electrolysis as i don't think i would have enough clients to make a profit.

Well I am hoping its not outdated as I have only recently done my Electrolysis training.

I am offering Blend, Galvanic or Diathermy. I have a regular clients and its enough for me at the moment as I am finding it quite harsh on my eyes with all that consentration.

I also have it done by another salon and don't mind it at all. I charge the average cost locally which is £8 for a 1-15 min session, £14 for 15 - 30 mins and 50p per minute there after.

I am actually tempted to have some laser treatment on myself but am worried about the discomfort (I quite like the electrolysis - kinda got used to it now). The laser seems quite a lot of money but of course its a lot quicker than the electrolysis so overall it is probably not any more expensive.

I am hoping to carry on with my Electrolysis and hope I havent 'missed the boat' as my training has cost me an arm and a leg lol!

I think its horses for courses.I don't think electrolysis has had its day and i don't think you will have wasted your money.
I believe that electrolysis, especially with the newer machines and blend ,will still be up there as a proven method of permanent hair removal for a long long time and you will be one of the ones reaping the rewards because you are still doing it.How many people trained actually still do it or like doing it and feel confident doing it not many. You will be in the minority.
I would still do it if i could see.
IPL isnt often as effective as made out and laser can be very painful expensive and also not always effective.
Electrolysis is a very specialised treatment just because you have trained in it doesn't necessarily make anyone good at it,that is why it has lost popularity if done properly it is a very effective treatment.Id say make electrolysis your forte and become really good at it you will reap the rewards im sure. Its so rewarding:lol:

Personally, i love electrolysis. We offer it at our salon and it's quite popular, we do blend. However, i do think that in general laser and IPL are growing and more effective at removing larger areas of hair. Long Live Electrolysis!!!

Thanks folks - I have always fancied training in Electrolysis and was wondering if it was worth pursuing. Good to know trends further south as they always take a good while to filter this far north.
